Topic: Can RMX Console Jog Wheels Emulate Vinyl Turntables

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Its says so in the hardware spec. However i cant get mine to do so. Has anyone else set thiers up so they can move about the tune where they want it (juts like vinyl). Thanks

2 JOG WHEELS

Functions
Emulate vinyl turntables so that turning the jog wheel moves the cursor backward or forward within music tracks to select the cue point where playback will start for the audience.
Add effects to music playback such as instant speed up, instant slow down, and scratching.
Settings
Adjustable resistance: makes the jog wheels more or less resistant, according to the DJ’s preference.
Adjustable accuracy: mix with jog wheels set at their default accuracy, or divide it by 2 or 4.
Use with
Scratch On/Off button: changes the jog wheels’ function

Fine tuning: slow down or speed up playback, like when a DJ gives a record a push.

Scratching: makes a scratch sound, like when a DJ puts his hand on a record during playback (stopping the record’s rotation) and moves it backward and forward

so it can emulate a set of tables? i'm looking to just use my Hercules rmx to beat match and scratch thats fine right?

I don't think MIDI controllers are very good at true Vinyl emulation, if you want that you well need to look at the Denon DN-HS500, Denon DN-S3700, Numark NS7 & Numark V7.

The RMX does not even have touch sensors on the jog wheels, most of the newer controllers coming out are equipped with touch sensors on the jog wheels, the new hercules controller coming out soon will come equipped with touch sensors and that should provide you with a better vinyl simulation feel....but lets face it, nothing will compare to using an actual turntable.

The closest you can get with an RMX is to buy a nice pair of Technics 1200s and connect them to the inputs of the RMX sound card & also get a pair of time coded vinyls to send signals to Virtual DJ but in order to use time codes with VDJ your going to have to upgrade the bundle Virtual DJ LE software to the Pro version.
