Topic: Sorting Folders In The Browser

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I am still running with version 5.2.1 and have been reluctant to change for a lack of suitable skins and the ability to change the browser text size via the xml file coupled with the fact that I really don't relish re-making all my playlists etc.

I am still relatively happy with this version but the most frustrating thing for me is the arcane method of sorting folders in the browser. With a large number of virtual folders here it is really laborious to right-click and select move up or down to get my folders where I want them and many times this doesn't work and has to be repeated to get a single place move, there really is a call for drag & drop here to quickly arrange folders.

When I contacted support to find out if there was an alternative way to sort the folders I was told to edit the skim xml file but my folders do not all appear there so that is not an option. A second support query produced the response to upgrade to version 6 but as far as I can see the method for arranging folders in the browser is the same (trial version).

I can see that Phantom DJ has produced a skin for version 6 that really suits my needs and so I am keen to upgrade now but would like to know if anyone has a solution to the folder sorting problem and can also tell me if the browser text size can be altered in version 6.

I can answer your text size question (as i don't use folders) and the answer is yes you can.

Thanks Huey, that's what I thought it's a real pain in the.......

Agreed. Sorting folders is a time consuming chore. I would love to see improvement here. Drag & Drop would be an excellent improvement.

ditto on the drag and drop (but without losing .xml data ie cue ect)
