ok so I'm just playing around with Virtual DJ right now, I'm going to try to learn how to beatmatch by ear using Virtual DJ (I'm gonna get paper and tape in a little and block off the soundwaves and BPM), but I'm trying to get the song from the left deck to play on the left side of my headphones and the song on the right deck to play on the right side of my headphones... I'm not using an external mixer right now because i'm just messing around so I have my headphones connected to my laptop.. How exactly can I do this on the program because I can't find any way to split the audio? thank you.

Use the internal mixer / separated mono option in soundcard setup. This will send deck 1 to the left and deck 2 to the right. You can then put on your headphones and use the onscreen faders to control the mix in the headphones. Hope this helps you in your decision to purchase a full license.

Not all soundcards have the capability to split the audio like that. The easiest way to split the signal is to use an small external mixer.
You want to get used to having the cued track consistently in one particular ear and the main mix in the other, anyway.
You can't get that from having the left turntable in the left ear and the right turntable in the right ear all the time.
In almost 20 years of DJ'ing, I've never met a DJ who cued up tracks up like that, but I bet since I have stated this, 20 of them will comment to their existence.
I hope you're not trying to adjust the pitch of both decks with just a mouse. Learning to beatmatch is hard enough.
Don't make it harder than it has to be.
