Topic: Odd data loss...BPM's and Virtual folders.....please help

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Last session I created a virtual folder for some songs I planned to play and play a fair amount, the next time I open VDJ that Virtual folder is gone.
What happened to it.

Worse problem,
I lost all my BPM's, the song artist and titles all show up from my slave drive but the BPM's took a very long time to get are 99% gone, If I cue a song up the BPM for that song returns...any ideas?

Many thanks!
Cheers,
P.

What kind of OS do you use?
If W7, did you open VDJ as Admin? (rightclick on VDJ Icon)
Did your Track source (external harddisk?), have the same drive letter?

I use Win 7 and what I have been doing is just double clicking the VDJ icon on my so called "laptop" menu and all has been well and worked okay thru several shows and countless hours of home DJing,
I tried the right click and open as admin and still most BPM's are missing....let me ask where is that BPM data saved, within the VDJ program ( My guess ) or in the external drive?
In other words does the VDJ program add the BPM is each song on the External drive like a tag.
This really sucks as I have a show in a few days and it really takes a long time to readd all the BPM's

If you scan a Track and this Track is located on a external harddrive or on a other harddrive then your Drive C.

VDJ create for each drive a Databasefile.
There are the informations stored.

FilterFolder and Virtual Folder are stored in the drive C database.
As far as i know ;-)

Normaly you only loose the informations, when you move the tracks without using VDJ or the drive letter is not the same then before.
Means when you use the Windows Explorer to move tracks from drive x to y or from the current folder to another, VDJ can't recognize that.

But you tell us, everything is the same then before.
So it is for me something obscure phenomenon.

It is really the same notebook and you didn't change anything?
Crazy :-(
sry

Okay...I use the same external HD on the laptop for shows and on a desktop for home play,
I did forget what I am guessing will be a big important part of the puzzle...because at first and for reasons I will get to I didnt know it it had any bearing.

I happened to be on the laptop and playing here at home, then the ^#$%^& windows update automaticly restarted my laptop in turn shutting everything down like what I would call a hard reboot, new laptop and I am new to win7 and did not know some &^^$#@#% setting was checked for auto install of updates,

When I restarted VDJ it hit me with a corrupt message telling to to go use "fix" which I had to a few times before it stopped with the Corrupt message,

This was when I noticed all my BPM's were gone in addition many songs that I changed titles and or artists names are back to just track numbers,

I didnt know if that update reboot had a bearing because several times when I go in and change a song for lets say just a track number to the actualy name the next time I start VDJ it is back to just a track number,

Since this is a very annoying and time wasting issue to have to let it scan all the songs for BPM's again is there a file I can save so in the event I loose BPM's again I can just fall back on the saved file with all the BPM's will come back without a scan...

Many thanks!

P.
