So I've got a 32bit Vista and have been running the Hercules MK on it for 2 years. No problems
Today I bought a RMX and tried to install it. Uninstalled all the old drivers etc first and then installed the drivers from the disc, then VDJ. Lovley. Then when I go to run it says "Cannot detect hardware etc". So I did this a few times to no aviail
Then I start trawling the internet and download the latest drivers from the hercules website. Things are looking better but no apparently the "drivers are older than expected" which leads to the same problem as before. WHen I open VDJ says the hardware cannot be detected
THis is driving me insane any ideas?

Hello,
You have a corrupted installation.
Uninstall all your current Hercules drivers and download and install this:
http://ts.hercules.com/download/pub/webupdate/DJCSeries/2010_HDJS_2.exe
This would fix any problem you may have. Also download and install latest VirtualDJ DJC for your current console (5.2.2) form your download center.

I've tried that to no avail.
To see if it was the PC or hardware I successfully installed everything on a friends laptop who had never had any hercules/vdj related programs
So maybe there are some drivers or bits of software that havnt been removed even though i've uninstalled everything i cna see related to hercules / vdj?
thanks

This problem (Drivers are older...) occur because the previous driver were installed using another console model, and you are now trying to install the new driver using another console (in this case a DJ Rmx), and some file of the previous installation are not being updated correctly.
The solutions:
1) Install the driver using the previous DJ Console (if possible) or simply connecting both consoles.
2) Go to C:/Windows/System32/drivers folder and delete the following files:
- hdjbulk.sys
- hdjasiok.sys
- hdjmidi.sys
These files being hidden, you may have to change your Folder viewing options:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-CA/windows-vista/Show-hidden-files
Once done, launch the installation of the latest installation package again.

Hello,
It's really simple, If you use drivers that are not meant for your current operation system, this could corrupt and don install properly, then you got a message CONSOLE NOT DETECTED.
Now, if you install the correct drivers (I suggest you to use the latest available, see the link in my last post) and if you see in your device manager all your Hercules devices installed correctly (not yellow icons in there) then your drivers are ok.
Now if you open VirtualDJ and have this messages, then you are not using the right VDJ DJC for your console. Each console have it's own software version and you can not use VDJ DJC for MK2 in a RMX or MK4 also any of those can't be switch be other.
To find if this is the problem or the drivers problem, just download and install VirtualDJ Pro Trial edition and install it. If you can see all your consoles and use them, then your problem are not the drivers but the DJC version you are using in each one.
MK2 DJC version is for Mk2 and the first DJControl MP3
RMX DJC version is for RMX and Steel.
Good Luck!

Thank you for the advice. Its finally working but has an occasional skipping but I can see there are loads of threads on that so I'll go through them first.
I ended up just doing a system restore to a point before I installed my original MK2 drivers etc and then it worked fine so there must have been some hidden files somewhere thatg werent getting overwritten
Thank you though
