Topic: Just had an interesting debate

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

So, as I browse through my facebook page, I read a comment by one of my Fb friends in which he comments that he will be using Vdj for the first time. The following is the conversation that I had with another FB friend of his, who commented on my comment about me prefering VDj over Serato. For those of you that care to read it, the whole conversation is here, If not, just ignore it. I find it funny to see close minded Dj's. I hope he was being sarcastic.

Rene Ho
Dude, Virtual Dj is awesome. I prefer VDj over Serato. I hope that you get to enjoy it.

xxxxxx
Serato is industry standard.

Rene Ho
and I think it's completely overrated.

xxxxx
Bro I own greenhitz.com an 99.8% of the deejays registered

xxxxx
Virtual DJ is for beginners.

Rene Ho
I know, but I still think it's overrated. I've used traktor, and prefer it over Serato, and right now I'm using VDj and I'm loving it. However, if I was to chose between Serato Scratch live and Serato Itch, I much prefer Itch. It's a matter of personal choice, serato is more for the hip hop Dj's, vs Traktor and or VDj who cater more for the electronic genre.

xxxxx
Serato is more stable than traktor or vdj ,scratchlive give you fulll range when mixing

Rene Ho
I beg to differ on your last comment about beginners, but as I stated before, it's more of a personal choice. I have seen Dj's using Serato and how they just scratch the hell out the music just to "mix" their music at clubs, if that's the case, why even bother buying the software, and these are Dj's that have been in the business for years, not beginners.

Rene Ho
then I wonder why Virtual Dj is the number one dj software in the world at this moment. LOL. Virtual Dj is far more stable than Serato and even traktor, but once again, this will be an endless debate because of PERSONAL CHOICE.

xxxxx
Bro DJ Khaleds' deejay uses serato ,Jazzy Jeff uses serato , Rick Ross' deejay uses serato.Tell your homies to step there game up !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I only deal with DMC certified deejays. We Done Bro!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rene Ho
Personal choice bro, that's the bottom line, and the genre of music that you spin. I have nothing against Serato, but if you swear by it, it's all good, it's your choice and mine is mixing by ear using CD's or VDj if I want to use software.

xxxxx
Check for fax bro !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Serato is what it is !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then too you play house music ,an you a white boy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Learn to play real music !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Step yo Shit up mann

xxxxx
You still use cds????????????Dam you not even a real deejay !!!!!!!!!!!!!
STEP IT UP HOMIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rene Ho
hahahahahahaha, hey bro, school me on real music please. hahahahaha sorry bro but your last comment has no sense at all. If your style of music is Hip-hop, and you think that's real music, it ok Bro, I truly respect that, nothing against it. However, you won't see me scratching the hell out the music just to hide my lack of mixing skills, as I have seen in my 18 years of being a Dj.

Rene Ho
hahahahahahaha "Dam you not even a real deejay !!!!!!!!!!!!!
STEP IT UP HOMIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" an even funnier comment. Yes, I'm proud to say that I still use cd's to spin, and although I must admit that is is a hassle to be carrying them around, I like to show that I can mix with or without software. Interesting conversation.

xxxxx
Bro I from the nyc ,you ask any "real deejay" ,we use technic 1200 MK3s bro ,you use pioneers bro come on man , step it up !!!!!!!!!!!
You still need time to grow man ,do this get in a dmc , obtain some more skills then talk to me ,until then keep playing your little cds ,an can i fuck you girl !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rene Ho
interesting comeback from you. No thanks, but I'm not interested in "real music", sorry not my thing. What an elegant way to end your last comment. Be happy in your bubble, and I apologize if my PERSONAL CHOICE has offended you, your music, your Dj's, and everything inside your bubble. Bro, it's ok to think outside the box. to end my comment, I much prefer the old hip hop where it was music that had sense, to the new stuff which really has nothing on the old style of hip hop.

Interesting conversation if I may say so.

in case he'd like to see "fake" dj's who use VDJ/CUE - all unheard of names like DJ ICY ICE, COLDCUT, DENNIS FERRER, DJ ANNALYZE, DJ JAM, MUGGS, DJ MR. VINCE, DJ C-MINUS, DJ CURSE, etc...

somehow i don't think your boy's name is gonna come up in a list like that. wonder why.

Either he was drunk trash talking, or somehow he realized he had no point in his argument and opted to delete all of his comments.

I like the "bubble" comment lol. And I also like that your responses were well written and rational and his responses consisted of comments like "Step yo Shit up mann" and the excessive use of the word "Bro". I HATE when people say "Bro" or "Dog", ugh!

I had a very similar debate on FB except it was about Technic 1200's vs. Numark TTX (I use the latter). It's funny how all the 1200 users in the debate were so close minded and truly believe every other turntable sucks. Just because a product is industry standard doesn't mean it suits MY needs. I mentioned how I liked the TTXs for reasons like adjustable start-up and brake speeds, adjustable torque, the ability to orientate the deck in battle mode, the option for a straight tone arm, line out RCAs (no ground wire), adjustable pitch range and a USB out for lossless recording and the reply was always "ya, but their not industry standard!". One guy went as far as to say "you can adjust the brake speed by disassembling the platter and adjusting the brakes speed with a hex wrench and screwdriver". Ya, that's what I want to do at a gig every time I want to change the brake speed. It's a battle that can't be won with these guys. Don't get me wrong, 1200s are great turntables, but I shouldn't be bashed because I don't subscribe to the "1200's-are-the-end-all-be-all-of-turntables" mentality.

And regarding the "Serato vs. VDJ" thing I'll put in my 2 cents. Besides the many great features VDJ has, a BIG plus for me is the following: If I'm at a gig and my mixer and or sound card dies I have peace of mind knowing that all I have to do is connect my speakers directly to my MacBook via a "Y" adaptor cable and I can still mix using VDJ's internal mixer and customizable keyboard shortcuts. If your SSL sound card dies Serato gets reduced to a featureless playback playlist manager which is about as useful as DJing with an iPod.

Lol, that dude was just a straight foo!!

I can't stand ignorant idiots like this, "DMC Certified DJs" lol. This guy is a D M C Certified Pendejo, you sort out the "D M C" acronym for this guy....

DJ RuDe

LOL. its so funny reading this because i bet he just started playing with ssl. i started on Final scratch, then SSL, no VDJ/CUE and its funny when i have straight VSL lovers on my dick all night because they can't understand how i'm doing what i am with video. i mean serato doesn't have those features so how are you doing it. then they look at the screen. OH SHIT its not serato, but it hasn't crashed on you yet, why not?

CLOWNS! i also love statements like "oh you uses cds man thats not real" funny thing is most of the NYC djs i have heard can't mix chocolate sauce and milk together let alone music without screaming between each track. (not all nyc djs, but a ton)

I think one reason sl is standard because most djs just starting out with the whole pc djing are computer illiterate and its just simple to buy sl and plug the box in instead of using what you want ie sound card, midi controller etc. to each his own.

Icy Ice uses serato...so does cold cut...jam...and annalyze...

i've personally seen jam and icy ice on it and there are tons of pictures of annalyze and and cold cut on it out there.

That's not the point. I'm sure you have more than 1 controller you use depending on the situation. Hell, I have 4 T.V.s- not that I need them but It's my personal choice to have them. I know thats an extreme but you get the point - hopefully!

I hate when people use some person(s) thats ontop of some industry food chain as "standard". People do it with athletes, singers, actors and per this discussion - DJs.

Come-on people have your own opinion and mind. If something works for me, don't discount me for not using the same as you. I haven't had a car note in 10 years and I doubt I ever will. Should I be thaught less of person economically because I choose to put my money doing other things instead of giving it to the banks?

My point is- don't put other DJs on a pedistal based on the equipment / software they use. Have your own mind.

What a dick, I got your back HO! Keep on doing your thing your way man!

I use VDJ so maybe they should change cause I been doing this A LOT longer then they have, they were not even a glint in their momma daddies eye when I started Djing...........:)

Cut the hereo worship and play wit what you want to play wit and works best for you. Just cause everyone bought air Jordan's didn't mean anybody could jump any higher then they did before!

It's obvious that this guy is a retard, so why even bother arguing with him?

At first I didn't see it as an argument, to me it was more like a conversation, but his responses just went down the drain, as we conversed a bit more. The reason why I brought it up and exposed the whole conversation, or messages, it's because after my last response he went ahead and deleted all of his responses. I knew then, that I was dealing with a stubborn, close minded type of person. I found it funny how he couldn't give a solid support to his statements, and the cheery on the ice cream to me, was his last comment.

I'm glad many of you got a chance to read this posting, because I'm sure that many of you, have actually met someone a dj such as this guy. Thank you all for giving your opinions about this funny case.
