Topic: maya soundcard question

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I'm hoping to have a computer built specifically to play videos using for vdj. I know that the maya 44 usb soundcard is recommended for use with the program, I assume this is a hangover from the days when vdj was solely an "audio from a laptop" thing. Is there any reason that i can't use a maya 44 mkII pci card, and in fact are there any potential advantages ?

Thanks

John :-)

John,
please search the forum for mk2 or mkii. There were some VDJ users having problems with the Maya44 pci version. I don't exactly now if those problems were solved later on.
The maya usb is recommended by the team. The advantage is that you could take this card easily around and connect to another computer if you like. There is almost no difference in price.
I would go for the Maya card.

Thanks Superstorm, did the search and I'm inclined to agree with you. A shame as the mk2 is the same price and seems to be better specified.

Ah well, if it won't fit-don't foce it!

Thanks Cyder, checked it out and, all being well, I'll give the delta 44 a go.
