Topic: Sprint HTC EVO 4G works great with VDJ!

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I just purchased an HTC 4G phone from sprint the other day and I used it as a moblie wi-fi hotspot for my laptop. It works great when using VDJ Netsearch on a gig. I had been having trouble finding wi fi at some of my gigs when I needed netsearch for emergency song request. The HTC is a perfect phone for that and it's fast enough to download on the fly. So if you have sprint, check it out, it's another tool we can use to make our customers happy. This is not an advertisement for Sprint!

gotta agree with you on that one. played around with one at the store the other day to see what the fuss was about and they weren't kidding about the download speeds. i've tried using my blackberry as a modem on 3g network and it took awhile to download even simple things. but the 4g was a heck of alot faster. i could see using it at a mobile gig.

but the other thing that got me thinking was: hmmm.. .this thing has a 1gig processor. wonder how long until you'll have a phone put out by someone that could actually run virtualdj??

i can see it happening.

hmmm i just got the tmobile HD2..i will go try that tonite,

NsX, is your lappy wirelessly sync'n up or are you using the cable, i tried to make my lappy pick up my hd2 and its not finding it...im missing a couple steps...

I believe that the only company that has mobile hotspot right now is sprint. I'm using my laptop with bluetooth with my HTC. By the way, Los Angeles doesn't have 4g yet, and the phone is fast just using 3g.

I made a mistake in my last post. I'm using wi-fi not bluetooth with my HTC.

You are correct.. Sprint is the only network that has mobile hotspot. The HTC Incredible is supposedly gonna send an OS update that will allow hotspot but no word as to when.

PS.. I highly advocate hard wire updates over wireless.

nahh...my hd2 from tmobile has it...i been on it for couple days since this post...

My mistake... I forgot about the HD2

The latest HTC phones have tethering built into the sense interface; for those with rooted android phones you can also use an app for wifi tethering. The major three platforms (iPhone, Android, Windows Mobile) all support tethering but it's generally against the providers TOS.

LOL.. I was reading your post waiting to see where you were going with it.. I believe HTC started re-writing there programs to block the ability to root - At least create more headaches to acheive it.

By the way Andrew, hows the android virtual dj app working out?

Sorry, I decided to move vids to the experienced forum under the " funny things" section

I have been using my Verizon Motorola Droid in this capacity for sometime now. Many venues do not have accessible wifi and my Droid allows me to access Netsearch beautifully!
