ive got a pair of speakers that have 2 6.5mm jack sockets in the back. i have been given an amp to power them which is an H/H slave amp. the amp only has 2 outputs (6.5mm). as dumb as this sounds. upon looking at other amps too! i have noticed that quite a few amps only have 2 outputs.
how then would i go about hooking these speakers to sed amp? or do i need an amp with 4 outputs?
when i got the speakers i opened the cabs and cleaned everything thoroughly inside and out. now the speavers are all wired together inside the cabs so to me theres no need for the other socket... can someone please explain a little about the whole speakers and amp connection thing? im a bedroom dj mostly and always have my system connected to my technics stack.
thanks.

If I've Understood your post just plug in your cable, one end to the amp, the other end to the speaker bin
(and repeat for other channel) that second plug in the speaker is to loop the signal to a second bin.
It is possible that the two plugs are for Bi-amping but from what you've described and the fact the plugs should be clearly labelled as such, this seems unlikely.
But what is the Rating of your amp into 8ohms,is there a 4ohm rating, is your amp designed to run into a 4ohm load?
Also what is the impedance of your speaker bins.
Remember if you add a second pair of identical speakers it will half the impedance the amp sees compared to only one speaker.
The danger is that you could damage the amp by adding more speakers thus lowering the impedance of the speaker system, below that for which your amp was designed, it will go louder running more speakers, but can overload the amp if the impedances get to low.

thanks man, the speakers are now working. i just diddnt want to start plugging stuff in without asking first.
i spoke to a few guys today and a guy in a guitar store told me the second port was for a loop through for the tops.(which i dont have)
so the amp works and the speakers do too.
so you were spot on with your advice.
i now have a very different problem though which i will put into another post.
thanks again, john

nitebeatdisco is exactly right. Depending on what setup I use, I adjust my RMX amp to push 4 or 8 ohms. My Yamaha BR15 mains also have 2 inputs on them. If I use 1 set of BR15 (8 ohm rated) I set my amp at 8 ohms. If I "daisy chain" 2 BR15s I set the amp at 4 ohms. All you have to do is run speaker cable from amp to speaker then same speaker to 2nd speaker. BUT MAKE SURE YOUR AMP IS ADJUSTED TO 4 OHMS!

Hi Blue.
You don't mention wether the HH amp you have is mono or stereo. Lots of the older ones are mono, although they have two speaker jacks on the back. The MA100 is one that springs to mind. They will drive a 4 ohm load with no probs and always seemed to be far louder than there 100w rating suggeted they should be. Can you post some detail on the amp model No and also a description showing how the speakers are wired at the moment. You can get it wrong and it will still work but could pop the amp if driven at high levels.
Cheers
Daz

hi daz, long time no speak. the amp is an ic100. everything is setup like this,
mixer (2phono - 6.5mm jack lead) > amp
amp output 1 > left speaker
amp output 2 > right speaker
both speakers are connected with a single 6.5mm to 6.5mm jack lead.
hope this helps. thanks.
