Hey Guys I am using Virtual Dj for both DJ and karaoke.
I am running windows Xp Home edition
computer is a 2.6 Quad core with 2gb of ram and 500gb and a 1TB internal sata drive.
I am having some problems where the program just locks up and doesnt allow me to do anything without closing out of the software and starting it up again. Any sugguestions would be good I dont ever connect the computer to the internet and am currently running the V Kara skin ( could that maybe have a bug in it that the software doesnt like. If so Is there any other skins that you can reccommend for me to use as I lwould like to be able to change the tempo and pitch of a song while also being able to record people when they sing and play it back to them. I was able to work out how to record my mixes in the full video skin but it isnt as easy use. Also is there any plugin available that I could get to change the tempo etc.
I am starting to think that it could be an issue with windows xp home edition would an upgrade to windows seven help??

No, upgrading probably will not help much.. (besides the clean install)
When was the last time you wiped the computer and did a completely fresh install of OS and software?

Do you have any bloatware on your computer?
what version of VDJ are you using?

It depends, a complete lock up of VDJ is unusual. though some have experienced a "video freeze" but those people are usually running 64 bit windows 7.. with XP its VERY rare.
When did you first install VDJ?
Was this always a problem or is it recent?
What video card do you have?
Did you build the computer yourself or is it "off the shelf"

Video card is the Nividea 9800 was only playing audio the first time it happend and the second time it locked up it came up with an error that said virtual DJ has crashed would you like to reocover or or send the error report as I have never connected to the internet I have no idea as to why I am having these issues. I am only running XP home addition and it is a fresh instal. The only thing I can think of is that the windows version is not stable

I had similar issues with an Asus EN9800GT 1GB DDR3 graphics card.
What version of DIRECTX are you running? The 9800gt is a DX10 card but VDJ as far as I'm aware is built around DirectX 9.0c.
Try downgrading to DirectX 9.0c. They claim the card is backwards compatible but I had MAJOR issues with this card and tried many things to solve them. After a few months of trying i went back to XP Pro and a lesser graphics card.
I now have a redundant 9800gt gathering dust and a Windows Vista Ultimate disc gathering dust too. In fact, until i read this post i was waiting for the perfect time to try out my 9800gt again in my newly built machine, but now i think i'll stick to what i've got.
Also, as HippyDog says...post a crash report if you have one. I can't read them but someone here will be able to tell you exactly what's going on if you do have one.
Good luck...keep spinnin'...(",)

the Nvidia 9800 is reported as a GOOD card.. in multiple OS..
but due to this thread I did downgrade it for XP, as it IS a directx10 card.
You might want to purchase a cheap graphics card so you can swap em, and see if it changes things..
since you said its a "fresh install" it is only a few things too look at..
a.) the video card, or b) a bad driver(s) (and/or a bad OS install) or c.) bad Ram (rare but possible)
