I'm quite satisfied with mixing in key with Virtual DJ.
However, I've been thinking of a new feature (or plugin) that could be written that would make song changes sound amazing.
Lets say you're mixing a song in the Key C-Major. The next song you mix in will also be in Key C-Major.
Wow, everybody cheers, and you get very bored with doing it very quickly.
But how awesome would it be if....
Your playing song was in Key C-Major, but the second third and fourth bar changed to E-Major, F-Major, and E-Major respectively.
(forming the bass melody of the song)
Then at one point in the song (wherever you choose), you create a four beat loop on the third bar (being F-Major).
THEN, (already pre-cued), you mix in your next song in, which itself is in F-Major.
To the crowd, THAT sounds like talent; people wonder how you did it.
Of course, it's easy enough to do this with pre-planning, but planning is boring, and for nerds.
I want to know (somehow) for ANY song that I load up, what Key the second, third and fourth bar are in.
Then I can choose on thre fly which bar to loop, and thus which next Keyed range of songs to mix in that will sound perfect.
Try it for yourself (work one song out manually) and get excited.

Can't you just move the key slider when you want the change. Pre listen to the song to be mixed, match it and then create the loop (while the Key is changed) and just fade the song in normally?

Im not sure I follow, sorry to sound ignorant.
Assuming my first song has three Keys that I can potentially match C, E, and F (assuming the bars play out like C,E,F,E)
How do i know (apart from the obvious 'C') what key the other bars are in? (apart from trying to hum it in my head)
Because essentially, it is these two 'other' keys that I want to loop on at some stage, and then harmonically mix, by choosing an incoming song of the same key.

Have you looked at the latest version of the Multi-Fucntion skin? (http://www.virtualdj.com/addons/11588/Multi_Functions_6.html
)
Squatman has included an experimental "Harmonic Mix Circle" on it. You may wanna try it out...

So you want VDJ to show KEY for every BAR of the song?

Yeah, would be nice :)
I know Atomix wouldn't do this, as it would be too confusing or irrelevant to most users.
And of course it would be too difficult to accurately analyze many songs that don't 'follow the rules'
But what would be nice, would be a plugin, that if I (eg), threw a loop of 4 on the second bar of a house song, the plugin could tell me..
"that loop is in E-Minor" (even though the rest of the song is in C-Minor)
Hope that makes sense :)
PS - I checked out the Harmonic Mixing Wheel skin. Pretty cool. I use the camelot wheel for mixing quite a bit (mainly on the fly).
Unfortunately not an answer to my wish though :(
