Topic: RMX + turntable + VDJ6 = big frustration

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hello,
I've spent two nights looking through existing responses and the wiki and I'm still stuck, so I'm sorry for the repost if I've missed this. I'm really frustrated- just purchased my deck this week (just starting with one) and it seems like the turntable isn't talking to the RMX at all. Used Serato CV02 first and there's no action at all in the timecode config window, did my best to switch over and play a normal vinyl and don't seem to have any input there, either. The side of the RMX where I've hooked up the deck is disabled, but the two aren't communicating. No signal at all.
I know this has to be something really simple that I'm overlooking- I checked my cartridge connections and it's brand new, seems to be OK.
I see where I change the timecode config, but is there a setting somewhere I'm missing to switch over to the turntable input in VDJ6? seems like RMX isn't telling VDJ there's a deck connected.

I very much appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Have you positioned the line/phono switch correctly for the input where your TT is connected? If it is set to line, it probably will not work. Also, be sure to ground the TT to the ground connector on the back of the RMX.

Did you use the button to switch from different sources?

Not gonna open a new thread and ill use this since i am having the same exact issue.

VDJ 6.1
RMX
Serato V2 timecodes
Engine selected is on Serato vinyl Cv02 A
The grounding wire is connected.
The RCA cables are in the right inputs
The switch is on Phono
The source is changed to input

All im getting is a very thick but very small green circle (nothing like what is in the guide) if i dont touch anything it gives the time and say 100% quality but as soon as change a parameter it all goes to 0.
All the other screens are simply blank and all i am getting is an annoying tone-like sound coming out of the TT.

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

So no solution to this. Any suggestions would help.

The annoying tone you hear from the turntable is the timecode signal on the record. Fun little trick...get a real vinyl record (not a timecode) and set it on the table and turn the volume all the way down on whatever you are plugged into and you can hear the song through the cartridge....but anyway, back on topic.

First I want to say, can you get me some screenshots of what it is doing? Secondly, a thick green circle in the middle usually means that either the gain is too low, or you have the switch in the back of the RMX set to "line" instead of "Phono". The "Line" side doesn't have a preamp built in because most CD player have a strong enough signal that it doesn't need it, where has a turntable is a relatively low signal, thus requiring a preamp (which is built into the RMX on the "Phono" side of the aforementioned switch).

So, make sure you have the switch set to "Phono" on your input and then SLOWLY turn up the gain knob on the timecode config. It is kinda hard without a screenshot, but try this and let me know if it made any difference at all.
