Topic: MAJOR AUDIO ISSUES

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

after 5 days solidly trying to get VDJ to work i've given up and now want to see if anyone on here has any advice!

Firstly I have to say i have KEYLOCK on all the time as I hate the wowing noise if i have to nudge a track back in beat for mixing.

as I slide the pitch/speed sliders up or down the audio sounds almost a bit like Internet streaming... not good!

I'm running the denon HC4500 which has asio sound drivers, I set it to 512, VDJ to 512, I've tried so many different combinations of settings but still it will not sound good.

the problems are: A little glitch at the start of every track, the wierd sound when I pitch up and down (with keylock on) a crackle sound as I turn keylock on or off.

IF i turn keylock off it all seems to work almost normally, still get the crackle at start of tracks, still get clicks if i switch keylock back but at least the sound is normal when I speed up / Slow down.

I'm on windows 7 (xp was same) its an acer Aspire laptop with 2ghz pentium dual-core, 4 gig of ram... enough to put monkey's in space but not enough to run VDJ it seems!!!!

I've come from OTSAV and although not as good a program (hence the swap to VDJ) at least OTS works seemlessly on the same laptop.

So, this is last resort time before I except the £250 loss and throw VDJ away... can ANYONE help?

Try changing your master tempo setting in config->performance to "fast" to get rid of the start glitch. It may also improve your pitch reset problem. If that works, you might be able to change the parameters in master tempo to get better results with the "advanced" setting. Just try decreasing the numbers in the boxes and see if it helps.

Personally, I am unable to use keylock at all due to the nasty, crackly sound that is produced when I reset the pitch, so I understand where you are coming from in that respect. I keep my pitch range within +/-12% and try to keep the mixes close in BPM so that the pitch difference is hardly noticeable. I use a computer that isn't as new as yours, however, so I think that may be the issue in my case. Nevertheless, older versions seemed to be better with "keylocked" pitch changes, even on my machine. That being said, the older versions also had terrible sound quality playing on decreased pitch with keylock - almost like an echo - that is not as prominent in newer versions.

I think we just need to get the VDJ's audio settings dialed in, and you will be happy..
It took me some fiddling around also to get them just right, but once set up correctly it will work fine..

first things first..

If your using ASIO, the latency setting in VDJ should be set to "auto".. this way the ASIO driver is what sets the latency..

Also check that "safe mode" is NOT enabled (IE:no checkmark should be there)

Now 20 days ago I had this working to your satisfaction after connecting on team viewer.

Now I see you have changed the setting adjustments I made.

512 is the default setting from which I raised to 768 I believe, so that has been changed and the latency should be set to auto and nothing else.

Hmmmmmm...I dunno Rick - maybe a driver reinstall was performed? Otherwise, I can't understand changing it when it worked.
