Topic: Distortition issue-need help ASAP!

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I own both Serato scratch live and vdj and im having the same issue on both....I get kinda like a crackling/popping sound during my sets.

In vdj both the overlock/ safe mode are unticked, i tried re installing both programs still happens. when I play just regular cd's on my cdjs it sounds crystal clear, when i set my stuff up to another compter it works perfectly fine just with ym laptop for some reason i get minor distortion, crackling sounds. All the cords and connections are hooked up properly as well and tried other usb ports for the interface

Im currently using
SL1 Interface
2x Stanton c324
1 shitty numark mixer
Hp Pavilion dv5 notebook PC

laptop specs are:
Windows Vista
Service pack 1
AMD Athlon x2 dual core QL-60 processor 1.90 ghz
3GB RAM
32 bit operating system.

Ive got a massive gig comming up on friday and if anyone could help solve this problem it would be greatly appriciated. Ive got a feeling it has something to do with the laptop processor possibly.

If anyone can help its greatly appriciated thanks

mate have you tried playing without laptop plugged in just on battery power.
have you alsotried touse a ground loop isolator

could be a couple of things, first thing to try is stopping all unneeded services before you start vdj for a quick and easy way to do this use game booster http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html

also make sure you have set vdj to fastest in performance

if you are using a midi controller these can sometimes cause interfearence if placed to close to your audio cables (its rare but i got it with a korg microkontrol!) other then that dasable wifi if you can live without netsearch and music groups, i have small pops when its searching the db ect

hope that helps a bit

oh and after using game booster make sure everything works as normal. my internal sound card doesnt work properly unless i dont close the control panel

yah ive played with my laptop unplugged and plugged in.

If i play vdj or serato internaly and just listen through regular headphones on the laptop headphone jack the sound is clear its just when i use an interface, my memory is pretty freed up and its not the SL1 im sure. Because prior to this i had a audio 8 dj soundcard and it did the same thing so im just stumped on this one i read somewhere it might be because of the AMD chipset could this be true? if so how do you fix it is there any downloadble content or upgrades?
