Hello all let me introduce myself first and wish you well my names Mat and im new to these forums and im sorry if this question has been asked 100 times but i cant find a thread on what im having trouble with. I've recently upgraded to a hercules rmx and have a setup which as follows, Laptop with virtual dj on - hercules wired up to the laptop from usb cable - i have my leads running from hercules to an external mixer. Now when i have a free mix down session everything is fine deck a on external plays as does deck b when crossfader is switched between the 2 But for some funny reason when i record my set i can hear both channels at the same time while crossfader is on one side or the other of the external mixer. Now i know that the volume bars in virtual dj are both up so obviously thats what im going to hear when i record because they are both playing thru the same master ie channal 1/2 BUT when i try to turn down the volume thru my Hercules i cant hear which ever channel ive turned down anymore thru my headphones or thru my external mixer . All im asking is for a little guidance in the right direction and have a setup which im comfortable with ie

BE ABLE TO RECORD WHILE USING MY EXTERNAL MIXER WITH THE RECORD FUNCTION IN VIRTUAL DJ AND NOT HAVING THE PROBLEM WITH HEARING BOTH TRACKS OVERLAPPING WHEN MY EXTERNAL MIXER CROSSFADER IS EITHER ON LEFT HAND OR RIGHT

(To record with an external mixer, you would need to connect a cable from the record output (REC OUT) of your mixer into the line input of your sound card, then select that as your recording source in VirtualDJ's recording options.)

BUT I ONLY HAVE BOOTH ON MY EXTERNAL MIXER WOULD THIS BE OK?

Any help would be kindly appreciated and once again THANK YOU.

It is only possible to record properly in an external mixer setup by running a cable from the REC OUT of the mixer. BOOTH OUT should also work OK (Make sure that you set the booth output level appropriately because this will effect the recording level.)

Without doing the above, you cannot record in an external mixer setup without hearing your pre-listening in the recording. VirtualDJ has no way of knowing what you are doing with your external mixer. As far as its concerned, both volume sliders are up and the crossfader is in the middle, so it records both.

The only other option is to configure the RMX for Headphones instead of External Mixer, plug your headphones into the RMX and then use the crossfader and volume sliders on your RMX to do your mixing.

THANKS Boggis for taking the time to explain gladly appreciated

Thanks
