You call that shitty? Haz0rd thats was hott. Slightly rough at a point but you kept it. On a different note "bigicedog" thats horrible. Keep practicing but first get some real turntables to go with vdj.

@ bigicedog I think that's damn good scratching for mouse and keyboard work, get yourself a controller or a timecode setup or something!

first off hazord that was hot!! second dqlito if you can do better with a mouse and keyboard then DO IT!!! ive been djing since 82(probably before you were born) im one of those guys that try to push the limits of what we know.now like i said i can do a lot better trust me. and CONSTRUCTIVE criticism is always welcome, trust me it will make me better. i just wanted to show what was possible with this wonderful software. i think real djs will be able to take the art of djing to new heights without the use of a timecode setup or midi controler so mr dglito put a video up of you doing better and i will shut it down.push yourself to think outside the box for once and INNOVATE instead of hating on someone else. if any body else have any tips for me im open to all suggestions. i do a lot of work with kids who cant afford a good set up(or any set up for that matter) but they have a computer so if i can get them to foster their love of music with this program then why not i have a hercules and i need something with touch sensitive jog wheels (like a vci) but like my kids i cant get one right now.so i will teach and innovate while others hate when i get the next batch of vids up you will see marked improvement. thanks for you time guys

Ok, I understand your point, but each week, i'm fighting with fanatic Serato & Tracktor User to tell us VDJ is not that bad that they can tell about this software.
When you hear some mix with the flanger is on all the time and the beatgrid, I say: OMG, I now know what these DJs think VDJ is scrap. And I think your video go in the same way. I don't find it's very cool to Sratch with a mouse & a keyboard, it's look like a Game (like DJ Hero) and be a DJ (im shure you know it) it's not a game. I a young DJ and it's very hard to show what we can do. It's the reason why I don't use abusive effetcs and don't scratch for nothing. Have a nice day.

The first DJs took what they had available and made things happen.. Simular to what you are doing..
BUT! There's always room for improvement, treat your first like your last and ya last like your first!

low on funds ok... make what you have work for you to make some $ and upgrade, I started with a Herc.
no matter how good you get with a KB and Mouse. you and I know you can do better with a little more control.

American Audio Sells the Radius 1000 for $350 (only need one for now)
You can get a 2 Channel Mixer from a Pawn Shop for $50
use your herc as a sound card.

BTW: Nice Trick with the Crossfader shortcut to 50%. there's another shortcut you can set that allows forward scratch only. I use to use it with my herc. And you can also conbine different command together like activing the chop effect to simulate a transform..

thanks for the tip haz as for the whole turntable thing i got those. like i said ive been a dj for 27 YEARS!!! i dont go to gigs with just my laptop this is something personal for me.i want to take the art of djing someplace where it hasnt been before. on turntables i can do every thing from babys to prizims and im learning new things every day,but who says that you need to have turntables or a midi controller to be a "real dj"?
why cant a guy with just a laptop be a real dj,learn diffrent techniques and try to advance the artform? i think its possible.and im gonna keep at it. i mean its bad enough we get shit all the time from the serato users and vinyl lovers that vdj isnt valid.serato is supposedly the "industry standard" and that any thing less than having a full set up means you dont have any skills and dont take djing seriously, well on that my friends i call bullshit and im gonna prove it. once again thanks for the help and kind words guys

back to work lol

1.) i've always assumed that "scratching" with a mouse and keyboard was actually tougher then with the proper equipment.. From that point of view (In my opionion) I thought you did fine..

2.) on the other hand.. Turntables & Scratching is synonomous.. Yes, I realize hardware controllers & software are getting closer & closer to being able to emulate the turntable.. but the fact is.. it doesnt matter.. it will always by just a virtual representation... IE: it will never be considered "taking it to the next level"

3.) If you want to take the "art of DJing" to the next level.. You have software in your hands that has two decks that can store 100's of cue points, and 12 samplers, with unlimited video and audio plug-ins..
Instead of trying to "sound like" something else, why don't more DJ's actually try and make something different..
Frack the wiki-wiki and go in a completely different direction..

just my 2 cents..
;-)
