Topic: Anyone else have this EQ problem?..

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

At random times when I am mixing I hear a change in the EQ. It sounds as if I turned the "high's" down. As far as I can tell it is random and it can last anywhere from a few seconds to a couple of minutes when it happens and then it sounds normal again. I also hear this change in the headphones.

PC info/ specs:

Laptop: Dell Latitude 100L
OS: Windows XP
Processor: 3.06 GHz Intel Pentium 4
2 GB RAM
Controller: Hercules DJ Console MK2

In trying to figure out the cause I have done the following:

Checked to see if the fan was running while this was happening . Sometimes it is, and sometimes it isn't so I assume it's not related to that.

I've also done all of the recommended "optimizations" suggested by Hercules on their website (such as disable theme, pc sounds, speedstep etc.)

I've switched between WDM and ASIO

Checked the connections etc. and I just cant figure this out.

Anyone else out there experience this? or have any suggestions?

I experienced this Friday night. I was helping a fellow DJ who also uses VDJ and after a couple of hours the exact sam thing happened. The highs then drifted in and out for the rest of the evening. Playing with the tone controls in VDJ had little or no effect.

I am assuming this is a performance issue. It was hot in the venue and I'm wondering whether processor heat played a part. I need to get together with him this week to look at his performance settings (v5).

Any pointers would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Roy
