I like those eyelets, can see a load of uses for those. Thing is Roy you are still going to need cross members for at least the top if not the bottom of the frame to stop the tension on the cord pulling the tripods together, then you will at least need some sort of weight for the bottom centre of the spandex if not using a cross pole.
 
Agreed. Like I said, mine are t-bars, to I have the top cross member. Just need to fabricate something for the bottom.

Also just bought myself this InFocus IN2102 DLP Projector for £100. Will hopefully be using it this weekend.

I too thought about making my own dj screen since I already have a truss stand for an old lighting set up. Then global truss came out with thier own dj screen which can be found online for $125-150 s/h included. Just get the global truss brand and save yourself the time and headache and have a professional looking dj screen. I really like the way the oddysey spandex screen and stand looks, the truss I use looks huge compared to the oddysey stand.
 
 
Well the one time I set mine up I had a 6kg lighting effect on each stand and that was enough to stop the stands pulling themselves together... Just! And I just had a fixing at each corner, nothing in the middle of the sides. Obviously that wouldn't maximise screen size, but 1.5 x 2 meters is plenty big enough for me.

Glad people like those fixings, they seem pretty secure so far.
 
I also use an Infocus proj, pretty impressive little unit. Kicks off alot of heat but it's front and rear proj. with a great picture and a max screen size of 22 ft. (model IN34)
 
Here\\\'s a few pictures of what I've used a few times.



This first one I've made a backdrop from black material and used Tayla's washing line pole trick to put it up there. The backdrop makes the screen seem quite a lot brighter because it blocks any light that might come through the screen from the rear side.

And here's one at a gig, since I wasn't in front of a window I decided not to bother with the backdrop part. Actually the backdrop would have helped here because the pink venue lighting par cans are washing out the picture on screen. As you can see, still worked alright without a cross-piece, just don't pull the bungee cords too tight!
