Topic: Netsearch Cache expired, despite "connected - full membership"

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi,

My Netsearch has stopped letting me download songs to cache, and all the songs ive downlaoded to cache dont work ("this cache file has expired, please reconnect to internet validate it"). When i try download new songs to cache, i get redirected to:

http://www.virtualdj.com/buy/trial.html?needmembership=1

I have purchased and registered a hercules RMX, and VirtualDJ pro and netsearch has worked perfectly normal up until a few days ago, and under option > internet i have my username and psasword in and pressed login, and it says Connected - full membership.

When i right click on netsearch and press refresh cache authorizations, it processes all the songs (E.g. the little loading bar comes up for each song) yet the problem still persists.

I had loads of songs saved in my cache and now non of them work and i can't download anymore which means i've lost access to a lot of new tunes ive got since christmas and render netsearch useless as playing straight from netsearch is always to unreliable.

Any ideas on how to fix this? ideally without having to reinstall or redownlaod all my cached songs.

Thanks

Dom.

Yes, i have now.

That thread contains peolpe with the same issue, but no valid solutions.

It also says if we have an issue not related to the upgrade of netsearch, then post it in a new thread, so i am.

I have tried allowing vdj in my firewall, unblocking it in AVG, and still no luck.

I will not pay for a premium netsearch to access my cached files. I see that as Theft on atomix productions part. My cached files are cached files from freely available music websites. If i am going to pay anything to listen to my cached files, i will pay it to the artists, NOT to atomix.

Apoligies if some of those statements offend, however I'm appalled at atomix' approach to the whole Netsearch feature. First they offer a £200 piece of software, in which the 3rd latest feature, they have a an arkward disclaimer for and offer 0 support for. This feature advertises to provide music from free sources off the internet. It doesn't tell you these sources, which is highly unethical and disrespectful to these free service providers. The least virtualDJ could do is mention the service providers in the "about" section so they recieve some kind of mention.

It's frustrating enough they dont offer support for this "free" netsearch service (which i had to pay triple figures to get access) but now they're saying they're going to potentially charge more for it. Not only that, the information available at the moment suggests they will be charging for people to maintain access to content that was previously free. Simple analysis of computer traffic reveals that the main sources for netsearch results are youtube and playlist.com, neither of which plan on closing down, or charging for the service, so why must netsearch change?

Maybe atomix should consider providing a free netsearch feature (which would be the same as now, search youtube and playlist.com) and have a premium account that searches the service providers that charge, that way, everyone would be happy.

I'm sorry for being so negative towards Netsearch. I just love it and it's concept so much and it pains me to see it being disregarded as a "novelty" feature, because as a hobbyist/bedroom dj, it was one of the many brilliant features that sold virtualDJ for me.

Maybe you should upgrade to the latest version in your download center.
