Topic: My speakers are humming what could cause this?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I have the Hercules mk2 midi console and when I plug my rca in the back my speaker starts to produce a loud humming noise. The speakers are brand new and they are the B215D so they arent knock off speakers I also bought brand new live wire rca cables. Ive pretty much came to the conclusion that its in my midi console but I need help on what in the console would be making it do it that way I can get it fixed. Please help me out Thanks

Most likely a ground loop. Look here for the best ways to resolve your issue.

Thank you all for the help I got the humming out of the speakers but now I have static any ideas?
 
speakers don't hum......

and i'm sure yer music is really great , and they want to ......

but still i've never heard anything other than a person hum ..... so far

The guys above new what I was talking about and helped me out so if you dont mind go be smart asses else where and let me figure out what I have going on. Thanks

It might help things if you explain what you did to remove the hum..

was the static there before?

How long of a cable is going from the MK2 to the speaker?
 
Hey my friend,have you tried this? It's the most inexpensive item recommend by "Cstroll" and stopped all my humming problems altogether. Most likely its from your laptop adapter so just buy one of these grounding adapters. You don't have to buy it online but any local electrical store just show them the picture of one and they'll give you one. Its way cheap less than a dollar.

Listen the above posts are what you should try, I was only tring to add some humor there is no need to get nasty about it. Get a life.
 
Radio shack sells RCA adapters that can tie in on should help clear it up. is everything tied into the same power strip or differnt outlets. you could try removing the ground plug but thiis is not reccomended. I hope this can help.
 
i know it was weird , it usually is

didn't mean to irritate

i never whiff on an opportunity , when it happens , to show how vague we can be with our communications......

i personally am always amazed at all the requests for help here at this site for (usualy software) issues where the poster

1) automatically attributes the fault to VDJ

b) does not even give info such as operating system , or VDJ version

this was a common hardware problem usually hums are cured by lifting the ground on the computer , the amp , or both

those adapters are good and you need them sometimes not for hums but for an old establishment with only 2 prong outlets
 
3) has obviously not searched the forum(s) for previous answers to the same question!!!
