Im planning on getting the Hercules RMX later this year. My question is can i use it as a regular mixer, without Virtual DJ? i can already take care of the USB powered thing because i just hook that up to a charging block (for iPods etc...) and can just plug it in to an outlet.
Thank You if anyone answers this.
I have VDJ 6 by the way. just wondering if i could use the RMX as a general mixer.

Hello,
You can use the Rmx as a regular mixer only with VirtualDJ (or with another DJ software), since the cross-fader, volume faders, equalisation and preview controls are not hardware wired but software controlled:
- if you have VirtualDJ in your computer, with DJ Console Rmx connected to the computer, you can, if you want, forget your computer audio tracks, connect audio sources on the input 1-2 and 3-4, activate the source 1 and source 2, and use DJ Console Rmx as an analog mixer
- but if you close VirtualDJ, you will get no sound in the speakers and in the headphones.

If the question is: Can the RMX be used without software (VDJ or any other MIDI software) then the answer is no.
The RMX is a soundcard with a MIDI interface on top that requires all the controls to be mapped to software capable of reading the MIDI signals.
Virtual DJ then simply sends its output to the soundcard within the RMX.
Cheers,
Roy
