Topic: WMV file out of sync

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi,
For a production I need to play a few WMV video files.
While testing the files the problem occured that the audio is out of sync.
In Windows mediaplayer everything is OK.
Is this a setting, or what can I do to fix this.

best regards,
Ab

**shock**
Your already past my expertise, sorry..

I didnt even know that was possible.. (to have the windows media decoder go bad)

I'm thinking the codecs on your computer are messed up some how..

what version of WMV are the videos using ? IE: wmv7, 8, 9??

I'm using the latest version delivered with Windows 7, so that should be the newest one..
My laptop was lately new installed, so messing up the codecs could only be the case if there is a problem with the codecs of Windows 7.
There are no additional codecs installed.
it's not PC related, my other PC has the same problem...

sorry, I didnt mean what version of windows media player you had..
but what WMV codec was used to make the videos?

Also when you installed VDJ did you do so with full Admin rights?

Is quicktime installed?

I must assume you are not having issues with other video file types since you didn't say.

Might I suggest you transcode the videos to another format. I'm not aware of any video service that uses .wmv as their delivery method. It's often easier to replace a bad part than spend a lot of time troubleshooting exactly why the car only backfires when it snows.
I can play .wmv fine through VDJ and I don't have any special codec's installed nor do I have QuickTime installed. I think your problem is your source files, re-code one and see how it works for you. :^)
