Topic: Streaming Music + Voice

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hello all :-)
I just bought an Hercules RMX and I'm on an hell of a fight to sort this out, so if i could have any help it would be great.....

I want to stream music + voice to Internet, using only MP3 files, and so far i got the following conclusions:

- Voice is mixed in the RMX by hardware and not by software, so:
- I must connect Outputs 1&2 to PC Line in;
- I must connect outputs 3&4 to my external amplifier to hear my mix (i want to have a good quality sound);
- I must declare as the stream source my PC sound board;

My questions are the following:

1) Is there a better or a easier way to accomplish this?
2) If i proceed as above, how should i configure the Sound in VDJ?
3) In VDJ Recording, i must choose Main + Voice, and the source my PC sound board, right?

Thanks a lot, all the help will be appreciated

The RMX is your sound card and if you want to PFL, then you need to be using the RMX. Yes you could revert to your PC soundcard but would loose the headphone support.

To deal with your points:

- Voice is mixed in the RMX by hardware and not by software (correct)
- I must connect Outputs 1&2 to PC Line in Yep
- I must connect outputs 3&4 to my external amplifier to hear my mix outputs 3&4 are your headphones - use the other pair of 1&2 (jacks) outs for listening locally or connect your PC Out to your amplifier
- I must declare as the stream source my PC sound board Yep

My questions are the following:

1) Is there a better or a easier way to accomplish this? There are probably a few ways, but if you're using the RMX the above is correct
2) If i proceed as above, how should i configure the Sound in VDJ? Inputs: None, Outputs: Headphones, Sound card: RMX
3) In VDJ Recording, i must choose Main + Voice, and the source my PC sound board, right? I think you should be using Line IN

Not 100% certain on the last question though...

Hope this helps,

Roy

So glad you posted this question and response - I was having a similar issue and this helped me clear it up. Here's my current setup, which I've tested & it works for both recording and broadcasting (yay).

Running Windows XP SP3, VDJ v 6.06, Hercules DJ Console Rmx.

In config in VDJ, Sound Setup Tab:

Inputs: None
Outputs: headphones (master chan 1 & 2/headphones chan 3 & 4)
SoundCard: DJ Console Rmx

In the DJ Console Rmx Panel:

Input channels 1-2: Line In/Phono
Audio Mode: WDM
Main tab: Talkover Attenuation Enabled
Advanced Tab: USB Streaming 1-2 + Line In 1-2

(It seemed to set all this stuff by itself and when I tried to change to ASIO, I got an error when starting VDJ. I changed it back to WDM and restarted VDJ and it was fine after that).

In my soundMAX soundcard control panel: Playback & record are both set to my computer's soundcard (SoundMAX)

Physical setup:
phones & mic both plugged into console (mic is a Shure PG58 XLR with XLR --> 1/4 adapter)
output 1 & 2 connected to line in on computer
computer speakers connected to computer as normal

In VDJ, for in Recording Config:
Record from: Line IN, computer's soundcard, line in (so GadgetMan, you were right)

Again, thanks for these posts!

Gadget;
My situation is a little different, I'm using a laptop that just has a mic in and headphone out. So VDJ wont work with a laptop config. One of the biggest problems I was having was, when the encoder is connected I don't have function of the RMX. When no Encoder full function.

So bottom line will VDJ work with Windows media Encoder?????
