Music skips randomly while 2 tracks are playing at the same time. Seems worse then with previous version. My setup is Athlon XP 2100 / SB Live in none ASIO mode. (ASIO doesn't work right with regular drivers.)

this makes me SO afraid to even try to update it now.

im back on version 2.06 because 2.1 always did that to me...now, you're saying its happening to you with the brand new version 3. wow, not good. i dont think i will change over the new one just yet. i mean, 2.06 finally works pretty well for scratching. i havent gotten it to crash again, but to be honest i got so fed up with the crashing i went back to real records for a bit.

the infamous crashing was fixed, but i couldn't beatmatch properly with my tracks randomly skipping.

I personally used 3.0 for 2 functions this weekend. It ran beautifully. Absolutely flawless. At 1 gig I used an xp-10, at the other I used a Dac2.
I've also had it running on my desktop computer in my office for several hours now while I have also been using the computer for other things. I have not heard one single skip or glitch, or hiccup.
I'm curious now to see if any other users might have any skipping problems.

Try this :

1. There is a new feature called REACTIVITY in general settings : turn it back to NORMAL for same cpu use as 2.06. FAST is set as default, and works best at powerfull pc's

2. turn off READ IDTAGs.... might cause some stress to pc because its reading idtags of lots of files

My only two guesses, as VDJ 3.0 runs ALOT smoother, without any skips at my pc

I've should've known this too...

PCI Express System:
Pentium 4 CPU with 800Mhz FSB, HT 3.6Ghz
Intel 915GAV dual channel DDR2-533, SATA+RAID, PCX
GeForce PCX6800 GT 128MB DDR PCI-Express Video
2x256mb DDR2-533 Memory
SalTek 350watt power
Seagate 80GB SATA, 10,000RPM HDD
RealTek 7.1ch (High defination sound) built-on-board

I recently installed a new PATA Barracuda 80gb 7500Rpm, & got to know a great variation in peformance.
A huge lag in loading plus in between mixing when a song is from PATA drive,
& No lag, not a bit, when loadin'/mixing a song from SATA.

Otherwise all other versions of Virtual DJ, just as mentioned on the site by Support team, were slick like a wave.
I don't know if you guyz are intersected to a problem of different scenario,
however i figured out this scene previous weekend.

thanx for the info.. will pass it on to dev team

so IDE is the problem. i should switch to SATA?
i will try it out, and let you know

also, the reactivity had no effect. its strange how this particular bug is not in the ealier version, but is in the newer version.

I had a video loaded in one player and a karaoke cdg in the other. When I switched to the Karaoke song my system would crash. It won't work on my laptop because it skips playing Karaoke songs even with the Video disabled. So back to 2.06 until they can do some serious fixing to 3.0 . I feel sorry for new comers who can't get 2.6. If you are using a laptop without a late Video card you might not be able to use it. My laptop is fast but the Video is not quite up to it for the Video feature but Karaoke cdg's work fine using 2.06.

Hi guys,

just wanting to add my 0.02.

Using P4C 3ghz 250FSB / 1gb ram DDR500 / 80gb 7200RPM hdd
SB Audigy + XP10 or HDJC
WinXP, absolutely no other program running or installed.
Music skips randomly, with one or two decks playing even without
touching any key, using only mp3 for mixing, no video.

Never got any skip before, 1.09 was perfectly smooth, 2.0+ started to
be feel kinda laggy with no skipping, i haven't tried 2.07, now i have
upgraded to 3.0 and music skips very randomly and very often.

Hope developpers can do something about it cuz there's no way i upgrade
such a respectable system for mixing.

I always disable (device manager) ports and slots that i don't use, even pcmci
(i dont use any), card reader etc.
Faster boot, less memory used, safer real time audio/video.
just another shot in the dark..

I even removed my modem physically that was "built in" ;-) it was an addon card on the notebooks motherboard. now the battery lasts 5 seconds longer :-) and I feel better

I use a shuttle xpc so no wireless thing using background ressources for me. Anyway think to a pc where you just installed windows and your motherboard drivers, well it's my system with virtualdj + drivers (not the software suites) of my soundcards. I don't even use a wallpaper, that shows how much i try to maximize its performance.

I played around with reaction setting:
in medium the sound doesn't skip or maybe it does but it's not noticeable as in "fast" response time setting.
You would say "fine then stick to medium?"
Medium is slower than no mode on the old v2.06 i was using before.
I've also tried to set vdj (the only running app) to "High" in task priority and to remove all decoders i wasn't using (video + audio not used)

Come on even without touching keyboard and with 1 deck playing, the music is skipping randomly.
Games are heavier than an app nowadays so i don't think an AMD4800+ X2 is needed for "fast" setting.

My guess is just developpers haven't reoptimized ressources for this version, i hope it will be pretty fast hotfixed, "fast" setting is really interesting for HOT live mixing.

I have no skipping problems with Version 3, I only encounter such a problem when I use the software EQ alot, but normally I would use a mixer for that. Version 3 is good, but it is not as solid as the previous version, but I think there will be a 'bug' and 'fixes' update soon.

Hello!

I have the same skipping problems with Version 3! This problem seems to appear always. I think this is a problem with this Version. I don't have this with 2.0.

"I don't have this with 2.0"
First do you really have the demo version?

Sorry, my english isn't the best. I'm a german user. What I wanted to say: This skipping problem didn't appear in version 2.0. So I did a grammatical mistake. I hope I have expressed me a bit better.
No guaranty for good english ;)

try setting REACTIVITY to "normal" or "slow"... (in VDJ setting pannel)

This works better for slower PCs, and will make 3.0 behave like 2.0 at slower PCs

I will try the reactivity change but that skipping is a MAJOR deal, I played on Sat. for the whole night by myself and I was not happy the the performance of the system. The Skipping was CRAZY! Please programmers fix this?
