I'm a little confused - basically, i have a general folder with ALL my music. what i want to do is create a "playlist" that i can view right next to my general music folder. is this possible?
what i DONT want to do is have to go through all my mp3s and create duplicate files by creating a new subfolder in windows.
having something like this would like the same as having i "crate" of top 40 records on the left and 1 crate of 80's on the right - if that makes any sense?

Create a playlist by putting the songs you want in the right side pane. Click on the + sign in that pane when you have what you want in it. Then click save. Name your playlist and ok. To load the playlist you set to auto load in setting. I like to not use the autoload. Just right click on the playlist and select load. If you want to add more songs to it just add and save and overwrite. You have to make sure your browser shows the playlist tab. Go to settings and browser and pick what you want to see. I guess this is what your looking for. If you just want to see the playlist click on it and it will show in the browser window.

You can also use virtual folders. Click on the pink folder with a + symbol and give it a name. You can then drag appropriate songs into it (They will stay in their original location - The virtual folder is just a link to the file.)
Because the virtual folder is in the main folder list, it's easier to get to, and you can change its order in the list by right-clicking on it and choosing move up/down.

Thx for the help - I was able to get the playlist created without any problems but what happens is that when i load the playlist it loads directly into both browsers - i have the viewing pane set to display 2 browsers - one on the left and one on the right
the reason for this is so i can view my "top 40" songs right next to my "80's" tracks
when i load the playlist - it loads into both browsers, both viewing panes
what im trying to do is basically look at 2 playlists side by side - i think thats a better way of explaining it

ok - i think i figured it out.
amazes me how long ive been using vdj and i have to come in here and ask such mindless questions.
basically what i did was i loaded the playlist - then copied the playlist to the next browser window
after doing this i was then able to view my "2nd playlist" right next to the first one.

Make sure the AutoLoad playlist is Disabled in Config -> Options tab.
