Topic: Sound breaking up with my NS7 and VDJ 6.0.6

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hey everyone. I just bought an NS7 and started my virtualdj trial before I buy to make sure it works.
All the mapping seems to work fine. I do have an issue though.

When a song on Deck A is playing and I load a song on Deck or vice versa, the song on A breaks up a little bit. Only for the first couple seconds when it's loading. I do have the platters set to vinyl (spinning). I tried settting it to CD and it helped a little bit but still hear it sometimes.

Sometimes I hear it randomly when I'm playing too. I get a little static or can hear a little break up. I do use Keylock which I read some people have found it to be that. I hear it sometimes with and without.

I hear it through the Cue, Booth, and Master Out.

In VDJ settings, I have under Performance, the slider on the 2nd notch from the left, Sound Card Latency is Auto, and both safe mode and overclock are unchecked. (As I was typing, I realized I haven't tried to turn the Preset slider down to the 1st notch (fastest) yet. Will try after I post.)

In the ASIO config I have tried a couple settings, 128 samples, 512 samples.

Most of my trial and error has been from reading on this forum.

I have updated the NS7 Firmware to 1.03 I believe it is (came with 64bit drivers.) I also read that 64bit could be an issue. I made a partition on my laptop and put 32bit Windows 7 on to try it but getting an error installing the driver, 0x000006 or something.

I just bought an ASUS G72GX Laptop which I'm using. Specs are good so I don't think it's a speed issue although I see the CPU increase when the songs are loading to about 80%. It sits I would say around 20-25% normally when playing.

Intel P8700 2.53ghz Core 2 Duo
6GB DDR2
GTX 260M

I have an opportunity to start working at a local bar that my friend's parents own and would love to have my NS7/VDJ setup. I just have to cure this audio glitch and I will purchase VDJ and have a great setup.

Thank you to these forums for all your help. I have done a lot of searching and reading on here. It's great!

Stay on the 512 samples and check the Overclock to see if that helps ?

that dont work for me...i wonder if it works for thauch?
im really starting to believe im cursed...4 laptops for trials n i got nothing working

So far I've had some better luck with these settings:
ASIO Config, 128 samples
Performance tab:
Slider all the way to the left
Auto
Both boxes unchecked.

How do you turn the platters off without going into the settings?

I'm going to futz around with my Win 7 32bit install again to see.

** I have not tried videos yet because I'm mastering the beat mixing. When I get that far, I'll work on some video. I'm sure my computer can handle it.

I also built Rack Mount PC which I was going to put in a case with the amps.

Core 2 Duo 2.13ghz
4GB DDR2
GT220 Card 512MB w/HDMI
Win7 32 Bit

This is what I was using to learn before I got this laptop. If I recall, I had similar issues. I think that pc should be fast enough though.

theres a button for turning the platters off "Scratch off" :)

Wow. I never really read it. I always glanced at it and thought it said "monitor off". Here it says "motor off".

I finally got the 32bit installation done and working. I must say it does work a lot better than the 64bit.
I can vaguely hear a little scratchiness in the sound when adjusting the pitch (keylock on or off). That is thru my headphones. I'm curious how loud it would be on a loud system. But the sound does not break up when loading tracks. The CPU peaks but no distortion in sound.

I will be obvserving it over the next few days to see what happens. I have the ASIO config at 512 samples. VDJ config is auto with both unchecked.
