Topic: Rmx and using another Mixer for output levels

Hi is it better to use an external mixer with the RMX as i find using the levels to output with it not brilliant, if so what mixer would you suggest?

Are adjusting the gains not good enough?

My lil is looking to buy one, just want to make sure he's well informed.
 
To the experienced they are probably fine, it's just i like the fact that on mixers you can see the output levels and not just use VDJ on screen levels to give you some idea.
There again perhaps its my hearing thats naff.
