Topic: PROMO ONLY DVD HELP

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi guys I have a DVD Subscription to Promo Only in CANADA and am having the hardest time ripping the videos off the disks. They put them in chaptors so there may be 2 or 3 songs attached to each other. I have tried DJ extractor and a few other rippers with no luck. DJ extractor came close but is made for US promo only discs ONLY. Anyone have and tricks or ideas? Thanks!

I'm not a guy but I do play one on TV. :^)

DJ Extractor doesn't work correctly because it obtains info from the U.S. Promo Only website. DJ Extractor uses DVD Decrypter which you can also use independently but, you won't get the benefit of auto-naming the files The program is free and it will rip your individual files. Just change the default mode to IFO and you will be good to go.

Promo Only recommended Handbrake, which is also a free program.

They recommend Handbrake if you want to RECODE a video to Mp4 and not Rip a video. If he wants the highest quality then he should NOT recode. The poster indicated he wanted to rip the video.

I have always used Smartripper or dvd decrypter.
In settings, make sure you rip to chapters or you will get 5 vob files.

Yes all I am getting is a few VOB files, how do I get it to seperate into tracks? Thanks so much for the help guys & girls, im sure theres a way to do this.

You can use (for example) DVD Shrink to split the files to seperate vob files.

Its in the ripper settings.
Check off rip to chapters rather than vob files.

ok it seems to be ripping into chaptors but heres the thing the back of the cover of the promo only dvd has 2 chaptors for 1 song..... so does that mean I am going to have to combine the chaptors now?

I'v got it figured out! What promo canada does is they will have 2 chaptors for a track and the first chaptor is more of an intro which most of us vj's will not use. Thank you everyone for your help with dvd decrypter it came down to changing it to IFO mode then selecting it to split by chaptors. Done deal

Wow!... that's exactly what I told you in my response..... pretty smart for a "Non-Guy" Huh!

Glad we could help. :-)
