Topic: confused about DAC 2

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Rite I have a laptop and Herc DJC running the bundled mixstation software. I would like to get a DAC 2 instead of the Herc so that I can use my mixer. How would I go about using headphones for cueing up tracks ?? Do I need a seperate sound card or can it be done just through the DAC 2 ??

Two sound cards I recommend - ESI GigaPort AG which provides 4 Stereo outs, or Maya44 USB that has 2 Stereo Inputs / 2 Stereo Outputs.

But, Yes; if you get rid of the Herc controller for the DAC-2, then you will need a sound card.
Some will say just split the L & R channels of your laptop's line out, my recommendation is to get the external sound card.

I agree with cstoll. Furthermore, the Numark DAC-2 is a digital controller only. It has no audio signal throughput.

I'm not sure the mixstation allows for 2 sound cards
