Topic: AVG virus protection question?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Those of you that have avg virus protection installed, how do you turn it completely off. I can't seem to find a "switch" for this. The icon always remains in the tray no matter what i do and remains resident "on".

The question is "How do I turn it (AVG) off completely while I have vdj running during a show?

I don't have AVG but have Avast on my system and it's always in my system tray. But I have it set so nothing will happen automatically at any time (updates, scans, etc). No problems in years of working this way.

I have AVG in my laptop and the way i turn it off is by right clicking the tray icon and hit "exit" then a box pops up
and hit "yes".. and never had a problem with it

exactly thats what i do

Quick FYI. Turning off the AVG from the tray does stop the app. But the big drain is the AVG Watchdog Service which you have to stop. Now, I am running XP so it may have changed on Vista and 7.
