Topic: numark ns7 owners using video

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

hey every one,

those using ns7's can you tell what the buttons by default are mapped for?

How do you acess the samples? How do you mix videos. (Fade in fade out.)

Thanks.

i am using NS7 for video. In the video config in VDJ, i have the video's linked to the volume faders. So a video playing on the left deck is displayed out in the room, then when i throw the volume up on the right deck it automatically starts the transitions. I haven't looked to far into the effects as I usually pretty much using looping which is mapped perfectly.

I´m using headphone crossfader mapped as video crossfader, and have selected auto hedadphones in settings. For samples i´m using PREW. TRACK button for select sample NEXT TRACK button for activate sample, START TIME slider for sample volume. Than i have NSFX for effects, but you can mapp both sides different, left for samples right for effects. If you need some help just let me know.

hey guys,

Thanks for your answers.

Tjeck1972: i think something like your setup might work. I never knew i can map both sides of the NSFX differently and that might be the solution for what i need.

I looked at the V7 and the NS7 still feels like a better fit. In terms of the unit itself. do you guys like it? Do you wish there was a screen on it? As im coming from the ICDX that has a screen and i works very flawlessly with VDJ and everything is mapped perfect. Samples, effects, video as i have all the needed buttons.

As well what are your system specs ? Im planning on getting the ns7 and a new laptop in the next month or so.

Thanks.

You can map every single button, slider atc. to do different actions.
Take a look in VDJ WIKI to see how to do it.
My system specs.:
Gig machine: ASUS with core duo 2,53 ghz, 4 giga RAM, nVidia geforce 9800 gt, Win XP Pro 32-bit.
Backup notebook: ASUS with core i7, 4 giga RAM, nVidia gt240m, Win 7 Pro 64-bit.

isint the i7 better than the core duo?

Yes the I7 Is better and much much faster , but VDJ does not work without video freezes In windows 7 64 and 32 bit-- been the and hate it, waiting for an update, we will see-- .Im sure vdj will get the video freeze issue resolved in the next few years.

Yes i7 is "better" but there is no reason to change something, what is working over year now without issue. :-)

Not sure if its the recent updates for vdj (6.1.1), or the ns7fx vs my old setup, but i'm running windows 7 without any freezes. I do five hour shows on the weekends, and I play almost all videos for the last 2-3 hours of my shows. I used to have the video start to freeze about an hour into mixing video. I would restart the software and it would run fine the rest of the night. Now I can run video and download videos from smashvid.com while updating my facebook page without any probs. I'm using a NVIDIA 8800gt video card. Im going to replace it with a new one, that read a guy was using in the forum about getting your ns7fx to run flawlessly with vdj. The guy who started that thread is also running video with the ns7 on Windows 7 without issue.

jason look at my post that was in january -- things have been resolved with the registry tool and new updates

Yes they have, I can attest :)

Well I lied, because while the interface is much better, Im still having the vid freeze prob.

What did you do with the registry tool to stop the video freeze issue. I've checked the nvidida box, but still have the issue.

Hey bro, check out my thread under hardware technical support, entitled "How to get your NS7 and NSFX working flawlessy with VDj". If that dont help, leave a comment and I will help you. Its not the software causing the problem. Its an incorrect parameter set or hardware issue which we can resolve together. I have absolutely no issues with video mixxing or audio using the most extreme functions of VDj.
