Topic: Stupid Mixmeister BPM Analyser

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I let Mixmeister's BPM analyse all my song last night, it took hours.

This morning when i came to look at VDJ, half the songs haven't got a BPM next to them. Now i'm using VDJ to find them out :(

Any ideas what's happened?

Ok, i've done that

What's that supposed to do?

it should have picked up the bpm tags from mixmeister, always used to when i've used it in the past

if you have thousands it won't show all immediately, you will slowly see the bpm coloumn filling up with those tags

You also got to make sure that those files are not read only, because mixmeister will compute the bpm and show it in the mixmeister software, but if the files are read-only mixmeister can't write the bpm to your mp3's.

I have been trying to use MixMeister as well. I haven't had it do my whole library yet because the tags don't show up in Virtual DJ.

I checked that my files are not read only.

When I hit info on the files in Virtual DJ it the tag is there for BPM, not populated, just underneath with the ^ to populate it. How can I tel Virtual DJ to use this tag all the time? Kinda odd.

I haven't played with MixMeister in a while, but if I remember correctly, MixMeister stores all of its data in a separate file (per song) named something like:
Original_MP3_Name.mxm.

I don't think it updates the tags, at least not by default.

Great,

So can you pass some comments back to the developers... Can you ask them to stop truncating the tags to 30 characters when analysing the BPM please!!!!!

In fact they shouldn't even be touching the other tags just adding/updating the BPM tag. I lost a lot of tag info when I tried it out on a number of files.

Cheers,

Roy
