To all,
I have a fast track pro that i am trying to use with virtual dj 6.0.5. However i am getting such bad distortion out of the FTP. I was curious what the correct settings might be in VDJ. I know it is not the FTP because I can get excellent sound out of it from other uses... So far i have this accomplished:
Drivers (most up to date) are installed on my mac (10.6.2) for the fast track
In virtual dj config my settings are:
inputs: none
outputs: headphones
sound card: (now here is where it gets tricky)
i have picked everything... ideally i thought i would be using either 2 sounds cards both M-Audio Fast Track Pro USB
or the four output sound card....
when i pick the four output sound card, i receive no sound what so ever. when i hit play for the music nothing even happens in VDJ.
So i choose two sound cards, which i then get sound out of my fast track but everything is distorted.
I can select mono split, and it does work sending left deck to ch 1 and right deck to ch 2, but this defeats the whole purpose of the fast track...
i was hoping to use ch 1 and 2 to for house sound, and ch 3 and 4 for headphones, but ch 3 and 4 have no sound on them at all in any setting. I went into the settings for the fast track in the mac, and made sure that ch 3&4 are enabled. I have also tried both 16bit and 24 bit options, with no changes... Is this a problem with virtual dj 6.0.5? I know have installed the fast track correctly with the most up to date drivers. Has anyone been able to make the fast track pro work correctly on a mac with VDJ 6?
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks
Bill

Hello muneir,
Can you go to MacintoshHD > Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup
1) Load the properties for the Fast Track Pro
2) Check on the output panel whether you can change between 44.1 KHz and 48 KHz, and, if you can change the frequency, test whether you get the same issue in both frequencies
3) If you cannot change Fast Track Pro frequency, call the Mac internal sound board properties and change its sampling frequency to match with Fast Track Pro frequency, and test in VirtualDJ if you still get the distortion.

Hey Made in Breizh,
Thanks for the tip on fixing the distortion. However, The problem with using Fast Track Pro and VDJ still persists. VDJ doesn't contain the same options of sound configuration on a mac as on a windows operating system. As a result, it doesn't allow for prelistening with headphones for the next track.
I beginning to wonder if this is a compatibility issue with macs. What really gets me, is that it works fine with Windows, so why doesn't it work with mac.

Hi all,
Had exact the same problem!
It's been fixed now :) after being totally going nuts, i just changed the bit-rate!!
It is normally set on 24 bit, just change it to 16 bit!!!
utilities > M-audio fasttrack pro (situated in the tab 'others')
In fasttrack pro settings, you go to bandwidth and just click on 16-bit.
Hope this will fix your issue!
