Hey guys,

I was just on the way back home from watchin Avatar at 4am, when I got a call from my best friend. He broke some shocking news to me. His cousin from US passed away in his sleep. They suspect he overdosed. I met his cousin when he was here in Singapore. He was such a happy person and full of life. But my friend did tell me that he was a heavy drug abuser. Smoked whatever could be smoked, snorted whatever could be snorted and injected everything else.

It's really sad to see a life go to waste just like that. He was just 24 mind you. Just cut down at his prime. Brought back memories of DJ AM's death. All those years of experience and talent just gone down the damn drain. Please dont let this happen to you lot, and if you do know somebody who's going down that path, do try to do whatever you can to help them.

Thanks for taking the time to read my rantings. Happy holidays!

Ya man I can really relate to that man..

I got a friend he was a SICK poet man he could write the best stuff man.. Like stuff that can seep past your ears and make you listen with your heart man but he smoked a lot of weed man and died from it. He won lots of poetic awards at school and in extra curricular events and stuff like that...

He would have prolly changed the world.. if he stayed sober.

I dont plan on doing that but its sad to see lives gone because of stuff like this man.. i feel you man.

DJ Am (L) Survived a plane crash and cheated death but then did a mixture of drug cocktails and died.

What was he thinking?

Such an amazing DJ, WASTED!

Dont do drugs!

Sad story indeed.

This is every parents nightmare and so beyond our control.
In the past few months there has been several graphic tv documentaries on how this happens to people, its rather frightening to watch.
The most severe traps start with a little recreational use and then the need becomes apparent and the high costs lead to other cheaper drugs.

Pharmaceutical use such as pain killers lead to Oxycontin which lead to heroin which is dirt cheap and everywhere.
Cocaine usually leads to crack or Methamphetamine which destroys you mentally and physically in no time.

These shows were on Nat Geo and showed the path of teen girls who fell into the trap and one series hosted an intervention that DJ Am was a part of as hypocritical as that turned out to be.
Another was successful middle aged people who started as "weekend warriors" and showed how they lost everything becoming homeless street people in the end.
One other series was the life of a couple of young people who actually lived in a park showing the "dead look" after they mainlined.

There is nothing more saddening than to watch this, but its an eye opener that every person should see.
Its a one way ticket to no where.

It's your life, all you have to do is manage it.

One drug doesnt lead to another; Ignorance does. Im not saying anyone is ignorant but having worked in social care for drug abuse in north america and netherlands, we find that the most typical case of substance abuse comes from people not understanding what they got themselves into.

not condoning anything, but knowledge is true power and abstaining from drugs is a personal choice. getting into something without prior knowledge is just not smart.

governments who subscribe to the "just say no" clause are not helping anything. nations who arm their people with knowledge on how to make their own choices have naturally lower rates of substance abuse and hence death thereof. this comes from people making wise decisions on their own instead of reaching for the taboo simple because its taboo.

But otherwise, sorry to hear about your loss.
