Topic: VDJ and a "Karaoke" Function?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I must be going out of my mind....I could have swore that I saw a KARAOKE "button" on the VDJ which filters out the main vocals on a song. After scouring the manual and my software, it's not there. BUT...does anyone know if a plugin or other feature exists where I can filter out the vocals to make the track an instrumental?

In the Effects section I see the VOCAL option where I can filter out the music and leave the vocals. I want it the other way around!

There is a default plugin installed called vocals+. Clicking on this plugin will give you the option to remove vocals or vice-versa. It's far from perfect though.

This is a very difficult task for a computer to do. It would be better to get the instrumental version of the song, or the proper Karaoke version (MP3+G) which also has on-screen lyrics.

Hi DJ Randy L

Not all songs are available in instrumental or karaoke, so that would be the next best thing to do, or hire a group of musicians and go to a recording studio and spend Big $$$$.00.

Here's a software that may help you and is design for this task. Link: http://www.mtu.com/upgrades/vogone.htm

Good Luck

Joey....

This is a little bit of a stretch but I've done it once with an Older song (from the 1920's)

I bought a copy of the song's sheet music, and programmed it into a Step-sequencing program (fruity loops) and then exported it to an MP3 file.

Granted that only works for certain songs - but musicians do it all the time when learning to play a song by Ear.

Hey DJ Marcel_1

You're epsolutely correct, I have Acid pro 7 and Abelton Live to do it with but, most people don't have the software or the time so they look for a quick solution to accomplish this, not 100% obtainalble but maybe close enough to do the trick.

I'm italian and i have brough VDJ6pro, but i click on vocal+, but how i can delete the vocals??? excuse me for my english....

This is a very difficult task for a computer because it's difficult for it to distinguish between what is vocals and high instrument sounds.

For the best results and highest quality, you should ideally obtain the separate instrumental and acapella versions of the song. These are available from DJ services such as PromoOnly.
