Topic: Web Radio - Hardware Controller

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hey all,

I've built myself a little web radio but right now I'm starting all my tracks using my pc only. I was wondering what would you all recommend me?

I was looking at the BCD3000 but if anyone else would recommend me something better Id sure enjoy. Keep in mind, its simply for having fun and I don't have 500$ to spend. Although I would really appreciate giving me feedback if you would recommend the BCD3000.

Also, if anyone is selling their please let me know!

Thank all,
Pat

You should avoid the BCD series - These are poorly made and are very problematic.

An ideal controller for your purposes would be the Hercules DJ Console RMX.

Or if you already have a suitable DJ sound card, the cheaper Hercules DJ Console Steel, which does not have a built-in sound card.

Another option is the Hercules DJ Console MP3e2, which is smaller and also has no built-in sound card.

I'm not sure but I think the RMX is too much for me seriously. Is there another no so expensive hardward just like the BCD3000 but more reliable?

first of all you want a controller with internal mixer or you have a mixer?

Heither way... I have a little mixer.. which is only nobes though: xenyx 1002. But having an internal mixer would also be great!

well if the best solution is a little much for you!!!! Speaking of the RMX....then the next best solution will be getting a MK II

I have seen a few can be had for as little as 150 us on e-bay good luck....

If you already have a suitable sound card, then you could get the Hercules Steel or MP3e2.

These do not have a built-in sound card and are much cheaper (Particularly the MP3e2, which is the new equivalent of the older MP3 console.)

Thanks everyone!

If anyone have any more suggestions please do.

Thanks,
Pat

Here's part of the problem: Budget kit often comes with budget issues. For the money the RMX is the best all round solution and will work well with your Xenyx. The Xenyix isn't a DJ mxier as it doesn't have a croofader but can mix from several difefrent sources. Plus the tome controls and mic inputs are second to none on the Xenyx.

I used to have a Xenyx 1204 and used that with my RMX without any problems.

Look at it from another perspective. You could end up spending far more than the cost of an RMX by buying cheaper gear, that could potentially go wrong or just not work the way you want it to.

Wait for the January sales and see if you can get the RMX at a better price. If you can't wait and if the kit doesn't have to be "new" then look on ebay...

Hey Guys,

I might disappointe some of you guys but I was able to get a BCD3000 for 100$ so I went with that.

Just curious now... the Soundcard output on the BCD... will it out put my songs or do I need to output from my internal sound card?

Kind Regards,
Pat

no man! seriousley buddy the mk2's are going for the same price, sometimes less, on ebay...you could have also ordered an internal esi maya 44 for less than £60 from ebay .. there is also the usb option that i have seen for as little as £70.

with these options you are faced with better sound quality, better support and more options when it comes to upgrading your equipment.

check it out, return the one you just got and go for a better option and still save some money..

maya 44 pci

maya 44 usb

http://www.studiospares.com/ESI-MAYA44-USB-4in4out-AUDIO-INTERFACE/invt/224240

there are several retailers that sell the usb version for around £75 though they tend to be short of stock.

mk2 hercules can be gotten for around your £100 mark if you keep looking but they only cost £35 beans more brand new with warrenty

i know you went with your budget and your gut feeling but, are you totally happy with your purchase and will you remain happy? and, not look into an upgrade in the future..

i wish i had seen this thread before you made your decsision because theres some good links there and you could have been more happy for less money..

seeing as you are using a pc then get the maya44 pci and you only spend 55% or what you paid for the other one..top grade, half the price.

EDIT,

ok so re reading this thread i have noticed you want a controller???????

do you have dj hardware??? like turntables, mixer etc???

if not then why not just buy the herc mp3 controll???? its usb and will output your sound via your pc soundcard.

if you do have external hardware then go for the maya 44 pci... that way you can connect your TT's, mixer etc and it will outout your sound to both your pc and to your external amp???????

i am really starting to wonder why you went for the bdc series..

Hi,

I liked the look of the BCD 3000. Also, I don't have a PC I have a laptop so the PCI wouldn't of done the job. Also, yeah I was looking for a controller... as mentionned before on some posts earlier.. I don't have a DJ mixer but a little mixer XENYX 1002, which doesn't have any cross fader or anything. All I want right now is a little controller that can cue up some songs and be able to mix a bit.

BTW, I own a DMC2 for my real gigs but I wanted to create a little web radio at home. So, keep in mind I will not be using this controller for any gigs but for home usages.

You think I've made the wrong move to buy the BCD 3000 for 100$? I`ll be honnest.. I went with it more for the look lol.

Kind Regards,
Pat

BCD series is OK as a MIDI controller, but using the built-in sound card can be problematic due to poor design. Disabling wireless on your laptop will usually help with this. Or you can use any other sound card of your choice instead of the one built into the BCD.
