I am a strictly powered speaker guy. I use B-52 Matrix systems and QSC HPR Series. Also the dbx DriveRack PX and BBE Sonic Maximizer 882i are used to clarify and equalize the sound.
I like powered speakers because I don't have to worry about amplifiers, crossovers and cables everywhere. It takes away the hassle of hauling around extra components & cases and takes away the guesswork of figuring ohms, wattage and etc.
The downside is that they are heavier but that's because each speaker has the amp built in, so for me it's convenience in a single package.

I have powered speakers but the only thing I wonder about is the vibrations. I mean how much can the amp really take or until some of the screws come out? Not saying that it has happened to me but I was just wondering.

Often wondered myself Voodoo

As long as the speakers are a decent brand then you shouldn't have a problem (i.e. not cheapo speakers). Subwoofers sometimes need their screws tightened from time to time though. Any self respecting DJ should have a multi head screwdriver with him at all times anyways.

Agreed, also any good wedding DJ should carry a small sewing kit....trust me on that. I use all powered speakers. Mackie SRM 450s they will carry up to 200 guests with the right sound re-enforcement gear.

I use the same speakers. I've had them 10 years and the only thing I've had to replace is the drivers once.

I'm looking into the Bose L1 and the L1 compact for smaller gigs.

I have never had a problem with vibrations loosening up anything (except maybe in my head! Or maybe I've always had a screw loose... anyway, lol).
I have also been involved in high-end car audio for well over 20 years. I have always mounted my amps to my speaker boxes in my vehicles, and I'm talking over 5000 watts. I used to do SQL/SPL competitions, plus I owned a car audio/home theater business some years back.
Though a lot of "elitists" have tried to tell me that I shouldn't mount the electronics (amps) to my bass boxes because it could ruin the delicate components, I have always done it (I used to consider myself an elitist too). As long as you are using a quality brand, you won't have a problem. In all of the 25 years or so that I have used powered speakers and amps mounted to bass boxes, I've never experienced an issue directly caused by vibration, whether in car audio or DJing...

I worked one club where I drove the EV's so hard it pulled the wire off the back of the driver. We thought we would have to replace it or get EV to repair it. Realised the problem as soon as we took the driver out.
Solution: Extended the length of the wire in both speakers ;-)

Heard quite a few say how good these were.
I just checked out the QSC. I coul not believe the
sound from these. They store only had the 8" speakers,
but these little babies were really nice.
For now I think I will stick with my EV's.
