Topic: Rmx .. and what's next?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

So I have the RXM hercules controller, and I really like it, but i wanna know what I should get next.
of course, the pro version of virtual dj.. using the trial atm so I wanna see what other equipment i should use with it, and then buy virtual dj.

so..

An external mixer?

2x turnbtables with timecoded vinyl?

Kaos pad 3?

Efx 1000/500?

a different controller then the hercules rmx? Is there a better controller?
if yes, then which one?

A built in soundcard would be good

I don't want to burn cds or buy vinyl... I would like to use virtual dj for it

What is your goal, as a DJ? Club? Or Mobile DJ?

Hi mate.

Depends on what you want to do and will Ithink be decided by your DJ style.

Also remember that you can use TC CD's instead of TT's if that suits you.

In addition to TearEmUps question. Can you post some information on the music you play and how you play it, ie scratch/beat matching/juggling and so on.

Those new Pioneer 900s look good.
That slip-mode stuff is gonna make everybody a scratcher, and a good one too.

I play techno/house/dubstep and stuff like that, and I simply mix the songs into each others, also mashups sometimes.

I'm thinking about timecoded vinyls more because of how it looks, not what I'm going to do with them, because well I have all the functions (except scratching) in virtual Dj.

but I don't want to scratch at all..

And I would like to be a club dj, but im 17 so I guess I'll have to wait anyways
and till im 18 I can practice!

So i guess an external mixer like the djm 800 would be a good option? I just want to get some kind of reassurance that this would be a good next step :D

thx !

Hey dont worry.

Practice is what its all about and as you practice you become more creative.

I have given my thoughts on the mixer in you other post.

TCV or TCCD the CD option might be the way to go if your not getting into scratch work but see if you can demo both in your local gear shop to see which you prefer.

If you have your eyes set on it, buy it. If you want to get into the club scene, then buy the equipment that will make you feel like you are in the dj booth from a club. I like using club equipment because it has a better feel than using small controllers. If you have a dream of becoming the next big thing.. Go for it....
