Greetings,
I"m stumped. I have a pair of the Q-Spot 150 LEDs and can't get the light to turn on in DMX 512 mode.
I'm just learning this DMX world. I just cannot find a way to turn these on under DMX control. Test mode, Auto mode, and Audio mode work fine on the units. It's just that in DMX 512 mode I can't figure out how to turn on the LED.
I have the unit set for BASIC and I'm using PC software DMX Lightplayer and FreeStyler with a Velleman VM116.
I have pan and tilt control. I can see a small light inside the lens and can see the gobos change, and spin. I can see prisim movements. I think I have all control but just can't get the LED light to turn on.
Is there a blackout control I need to un-do, or a command on a channel? I'm stumped and would appreciate your help.
Regards,
Jim L.

UPDATE: I can use Channel 9 to select my Auto, Sound, Test modes from the software, and I have LED light from the fixture. I just need to figure out how to turn on the LED without being in a built-in program. I gotta be close !

Check your Blackout button on your DMX controller or software. IT may be activated without you realizing it.

Ahhhhhh..... I feel better now.
I called Chavet Tech Support. My trouble was with Channel 8. They have it in the manual that this is the "Strobe" channel. When I opened the "Strobe" to a #33 ( open range is 32-63) the LED came on solid. Oh, actually I see it will open with 3 other value ranges. The wide open strobe #224-255 works also.
Kinda goofy way to hide the light switch. To me strobe means "flash" not solid "on". My mistake.
In summary... To turn on this light use channel 8 "Strobe" and use any value called "Open".
Thanks guys for the help. This trouble is resolved.

Look through the menus on the light. You will need to enable DMX mode. You can find this information in the manual BTW. Good luck!

The main problem I have is that the software has the wrong settings to match the Q-SPOT 150 LED configuration.
Like with Freestyler. I select the Q-SPOT 150 from the device list, but when I click on a color in their colorbar the gobos spin...that's not right.
Obviously the Freestyler is not setup to match the Q-SPOT's channels. You would think Freestyler would have set this up properly when they even have a nice picture of the device to select. But the settings do not match.
To figure out this mess, I just ignored the labels on the screen and found that the light responds exactly how the channels are set up in the Q-Spot 150's documentation. I just have to now customize the settings to the light. Hopefully I can.
Thanks,
JimL
