I am looking for some advice on purchasing a controller. I do more events with music videos than anything else. I have always used VDJ by itself to this point when mixing videos. Any help on which controller you recomend is greatly appreciated. I am a newbie when it comes to controllers.

I would strongly recommend the Denon DN-HC4500: http://www.denondj.com/DN-HC4500-P81.aspx
If you mix videos, you can link this to a Denon X500 or X900 and use the mixer's real crossfader to crossfade videos.
You can also add an optional BU4500 CD drawer unit, allowing it to double as a standard dual-CD player (Great for a backup.)

I am currently using the Cortex R1U mixer. Is there a controller I can still use with this mixer?

Since you allready have a mixer go for the DMC2 Numark. Perfect match for VirtualDJ. Still available in Europe. Try ebay too.
