I ahve been sorting through alot of my songs and i have come accross a hell of a lot that the bpm is half what it is surpose to be.
Example i have alot that should be 160bpm but VDJ Reads them at 80bpm.
Should this do this or have i got something setup wrong

It happens with the way some tracks' BPMs are analysed...nothing to do with your setup. (Right-click on the BPM button to Edit BPM & click x2).

I agree, the bpm's are usually WAYYY OFFFF !!

I find it pretty rare that BPM calculations are way off. Usually it happens with hip-hop tracks, where it gets them at double.
Tonight I had one track - Black Eyed Peas - I'mma Be - that calculated as something near 115 when it was really closer to 93. That will happen, but it's really maybe one in 100 tracks or something of that order, I find.
If it calculates them as double, then the auto-pitch match will still work fine, which is mainly what I care about.

I guess that is what I mean. I consider "double" way off, and I also consider 115 over 93 way off. I get it 2 or 3 out of 100 which is way too many. You got 20,000 songs and 500 songs are way off. sheesh.

No, it happens.
Although... it's kind of understandable that a 160 bpm could be read as an 80 bpm song -- the latter is half of the former. :P
However, you're right. VDJ isn't always the best when it comes to calculating bpm's automatically. That's why you have two other options within the program: 1) Your manual bpm edit which you tap to the beat; or 2) You can go the old-fashioned way and try to use your ears.
To be honest, though, I've been pretty impressed with the accuracy of VDJ's bpm auto-calculations. "A few out of a hundred" that are off ain't that bad.

I have a lot of songs and maybe the rate of songs which the BPM is wrong is less than 1%.
VDJ is a master in calculating of BPM.

About the same here

Every time I import a new track I always verify the beat grid is "on the one" so while I'm at it I also make sure the bpm is correct. VDJ is awesome at determining the correct bpm but like others have said there will be the odd track here and there. You have two choices; whenever you come across a track with an incorrect bpm you can edit it on the fly, or you can do what I did and take a couple of months to go through every track and verify and correct the bpms (20,000 tracks in my case). If correct bpms are important enough to you then you have take the time to make sure they're all correct. It's a long tedius process but in the end you'll be glad you did.

Every dj sofware has the same problem when its calculating BPM..sometimes you get the wrong BPM.. This is why you have a TAP.. You type in the correct BPM yourself.

I have tried plenty of software and VDJ seems to be the most accurate when calculating BPM. The half calculation doesnt really bother me because i automatically know the 160bpm tune will mix with the 80 bpm tune. I doubt it would be technically possible to get it right 100% of the time.

If one were to go through their database and double (or halve) the BPM of all the miscalculated tracks, is there a way to do this to a bunch at once? Other than writing a special tool to manipulate the XML?
In that vein, *are* there tools to edit and view VDJ's XML outside of VDJ itself?
