Are there any DVD ripping programs that use the CDDB database or similar? Getting tired of manually typing the info in on every DVD!
Thanks.
Thanks.

Yes there is one program IF you use PromoOnly Or Screenplay Videos and have the DVD's, otherwise no.
HERE IS THE PROGRAM
(Note: Doesn't work with U.K. Promoonly, this program gets it's information from the PromoOnly U.S. Database which is not the same line-up as the U.K. website)

Thought it was strange that someone was converting from mp4 to vob, couldn't get my head round it. Hopefully he understands it now!
I have had better results from mp4 than I did with vob as ridiculously as it sounds.

My mp4s have always loaded faster and had less freezing then my vobs or mpegII's

All my vids are MP4 & no problems with loading or backspinning or any effects. Also look fantastic running out through S-video to multiple screens through an RF converter. Especially on plasmas & lcd's.

yeah guys just converted 600+ videos to .vob since most were avi some mpeg and mp4...im so amazed of the quality playback on virtual dj i can actually backspin and scratch with no problems i like i like...i know vob is hella space consuming but ask me "do i care?" hell no not when the quality is dvd and the playback is awsome not to mention n$100.00 for 1 t.b. i can still fit in a couple g's of videos in a t.b. so damm worth it...peeps dont mess with other formats there is only one format that kinda works like vob...but really i rather use vob from now on...if you are a pro and dont want problems glitches, nicks and slow downs while loading a video while the other is playing i would change to vob....took me almost 2 days none stop but well worth it.
What kind of laptop are you using Mac or PC and specs plaese? I want to mix video but don't have a clue on what lappy to go with. Any other info would GREAT!! Thanks for your time!

The recommended configuration to mix video is:
Dual Core 2 GhZ CPU
ATI or nVidia video card w/256Mb of Dedicated DDR3 memory (dual output capable)
2048 MB RAM

I thought mp4 was a shell like avi. If mp4 is a shell, then wouldn't the quality be linked to the method used to create it?

With all the video codec that Virtual DJ can decode there's really no need to convert videos anymore.

Hi!...just wondering...its there anything wrong with AVI? Is it a file size issue? I only started messing with all this a half year ago but didnt stop to think..being that I dont have any other file type..(forgot what started me to download videos in that format but I kept using Avi)...and where can I get "MAGIC" from?...Thanks for any Respond...

AVI is simply a "wrapper"..
IE: just about any type of codec and compression can be made to say .avi
no real 'standard'
.mpeg2 is more of a 'standard' , .vob is mpeg2 that is even stricter when it comes to what is allowed IE:DVD
.MP4 is not as 'strict' as mpeg2 but in general its pretty uniform (mainly because XVID, WMV, DIVX, MOV, etc, etc) are ALL following H.264 pretty closely..

Thanks hippy,...Still...what about File size? I mean ..Been dealing with Vdj,memory, etc. for less clog up when playing vids and would like a desent picture (thought i mostly get my vids from you tube.which i then Edit,"overdub" new audio if needed.. .)But.. I mean I hope its not a situation of Compromizing Like.."well if you want a good picture do this...but if you want to Scratch videos do this...and still if you want the sound,do this...sounds like this is the case..

Hi all
I am new to the video mixing game and have an existing lib on disk. How do I rip a compilation ( bought from the shops as a dvd) into a useable single track video format. i.e. I have a dvd with 24 videos I want to play and access them individually? Help? at the mo, when I rip the dvd it gives me one vob file with all the videos in 1 timeline.

David, what software are you using to rip your DVD? there may be an option to rip each VOB seperately.
