Topic: My Database won't save

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I recently tried to install 6.0 and it worked horribly, so I uninstalled and decided to go back to 5.2. Now for some reason my database won't save. Everytime I open VDJ my database is gone and and I have to add my drive to the DB again. I checked where the database used to be located and no database is ever created when I add my drive.

Any Help is appreciated, thanks.

system and admin are read and write, but it still won't save. also in the "browser" section of the config menu, under the database window, the "drive" line is empty and it wont let me select something, I dont know if that has anything to do with it

uninstall and reinstall should create a new database file and resolve the problem

How do you properly uninstall on a mac? I have been just deleting it from the "applications" window in the finder window and then emptying the trash.

dowload an application called "appzapper" then drag and drop the VDJ into it and that'll do the trick.

I did this twice still to no avail. No database file is being produced. Are there any people from atomix that could help me out?

As SpinnaJ says - this was my next point of call.

Run the uninstall in appzapper then delete the preferences file (as spinna said)

Then do another install. If if still isnt there then i am stumped.

By preference file I assume that you mean the "Virtual DJ" folder that resides in "Documents." I've done this every time I've uninstalled and still no good. Thanks for your help anyway.

Hi jaygabs, it is not that.

Follow the step to where to find the preference file at the above post by me. Have you tried it?

SpinnaJ FYI for the forum - for some reason, when I'm on mac os at home I cannot see your first post in safari. But when I'm running boot camp windows at work, I can see it in internet explorer. Very odd, right?

scratch that, after posting that your post popped up - still really weird. Anyway...I tried looking for that preference file and couldn't find it, so I think appzapper got it. any other ideas??

Thanks again for your input guys

I figured it out. As Edzz0 said, but I had to make the Virtual Dj Documents folder Read and Write, not the application. Thanks for everything!!

Im having the same problem..How do you make the virtual dj read and write?
