Topic: DOWNLOAD PROBLEMS - 2 Months and Counting..........

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Please explain to me why with the hundreds of thousands of users that you are the only one with this problem.
Then explain why you think its our server.

That would be very interesting to know.

I say its his connection? not that there could be a problem with the servers but he is using Dial-up? and broad band takes presidence over the slower speeds unless specified?....

It's a setting in your internet explorer settings in the advanced tab I bet. i had the exact same problem a year ago but don't remember which box I had to check or uncheck. I was able to download from some sites but not all including VDJ. Do a google and I'm sure you'll get the answer to which one to tick or untick.

The best solution i can think about is... use a download manager... something like flashget... I just made a test with the flashget download manager and it works... just put your username and pass on the flashget option & thats it.. you will download the file with no errors.

Best Regards!!!

You are NOT the only one, I'm having the exact same problem!!!!
I DJ on a cruise ship and the connection here on the ship isn't the fastest but it is faster than dial-up. However every time I try to download, it will get to about 12 mb then say file complete. NEED HELP!

My ship just docked in Juneau, Alaska. I got off went to one of my favorite cafes that has free wi-fi, logged on clicked download and in 30 seconds, the FULL update downloaded. It seems it's an issue with very slow connections. Will install when I am back on the ship and report back with my thoughts.

As to blaming my setup, which I have no issues downloading from any other site ......... EVER ........except ATOMIX,
have you even bothered to try to emulate a dialup connection and tried yourself???

Sorry about that..
We're using a standard unix/linux server, and have not put anything to try criple slow downloads..

You'd probably have equal problems download similar size installs from most sites.

nitebeatdisco said that no other sites have this problem. I suspect that this limitation may have been put in place when the number of simultaneous connections to virtualdj.com was reduced; remember a few months ago when Firefox users had many images missing? Firebug showed that it was due to a 503 error (presumably due to too many simultaneous connections) and I posted a screenshot of it. It appears that there is a content transfer timeout possibly implemented around the same time that kills connections at around 210 seconds (estimate from my earlier test).

Its poor when I could if I wish Download Atomix Software from WAREZ sites and as a licenced user cannot from the official atomix site.

Oh but can download the trial version as thats from CNET, Ive also just finished downloading some pinnicle TV software 650 MB it took several days but it downloaded.

I do Use an Internet download manager (which tells me Atomix does not support a resume function) and ive used IE , chrome, and opera
all fail to download from this site.

Have you tried Firefox?

Im using Firefox, & flashget, i can resume the download fromatomix with flashget because i put my user a password in the flasget option, also using my cellphone as a modem... i think you really have serious problem with your conection,...but i got a question for you... after a couple of weeks you did not have the chance yet to go to a place with decent internet conection ? , are you in the middle of nowhere in Antartica ?

Try again with firefox and the flashgot plugin for Flashget, i have to say that using my cellphone as a modem give a slower conection than dial up. & it works perfectly...

Best regards

;-)

I do not live in Antartica ... just Rural New Zealand ...... LOL
My options are satellite Broadband, with is way to expensive in NZ.
Or go to Internet Cafe... which is ok for the occasional update, but the way things stand would mean
browsing atomix for say plugins or effects, writing them down then waiting for up to seven days,
going into town and downloading from a internet cafe ...
and paying them $$$$$ , I already have an internet connection.
I Problem is up to a couple or so months ago downloads from atomix worked fine, and they still do for every site i've downloaded from except atomix ......... and other members here have recreated this problem with slow connections.

I will however try firefox an post the results.

just downloaded firefox ohh..... no problems downloading it either!!!

Nah works the same as all other browsers ....fails to download from atomix .... surprise surprise!

This is because its a setting in Atomix servers as another member indicated previously a time out ill do still more testing and report results.

Did you tried with the flashget and the settings i told you before ?

Ok ive downloaded flashget
Flashget Version 1.9.6.1073 ...... ok found settings under advanced tab

Not working and no resume function.

Don't use FlashGet or any download managers when you want to download on the VirtualDJ website as they can't well handle the website security.

Very Confusing...... Use this, do that, don't do this or that.
Well tried it all but nothing works. :(
I would like to thank everybody for there input into this problem.

FACTS:
* I cant download any large files from this website, irrespective of browser or download manager used.
* I used to be able to download any large files from this website up to several months ago.
* I have no problems downloading from any other site (and I download heaps).
* Other people Do experience this issue when using dialup type speeds.
* That this behavior can be reproduced by using a download manager and restricting the download speed to around dial-up speed.

Could a member of the support team please try this and report the results back, and if they experience similar results reset the
changes that caused this problem several months ago.

................. With Thanks

Let me know if you want some files downloaded mate - I'll send you a cd - doesnt fix the actual problem but will help you around it for now anyways.

Thanks Musicialcheers, a very generous and kind offer, hey we are all like that here at the virtual DJ forums Djs helping Djs.

Ive Been able to do some more testing this time on a band new Acer desktop in a location serval hundred Kms from home using a friends
internet account....... But still a dialup connection.
Tried downloading the software update ...you guessed it BUT STILL Cant Download files off this website.

Can a Treamer or someone try downloading using dialup and confirm or not if this is the problem,
and frankly what if anything is going to be done about this problem.

With Thanks

Just a though, I used Apple's Safari for a while and that would get plenty of thngs that even IE had issues with. I used the windows version. I know you have been through allot, but that is another option. It works a bit like Firefox, and to tell you the truth, I really kind of liked it until IE 8 came out.
