Make sure it's powered (gets power from electrical outlet), and all ports are high speed. I got mine from Staples, but could not find a link for the one I got. It was Staples branded. The first one I got, only had 2 high speed ports, and did not work well with external drives.

Its not good to use an expander. Get a bigger internal and dump your music inside. With your music inside the lap, now you have 2 usbs. I dont like equipment that uses too many usbs. My CDJ 1000's are good enough. My Midi is the keyboard short cuts. I bought a Macbook pro and i am gonna clone the hard drive. Im gonna install a new 320 gig 7200 rpm. Macbooks have alot of screws but it is very easy for me to do it.

I use this USB Firewire hub from Belkin with my Macbook with my two Denon DN-S1200s:

Hey, give It a try! mine works well. It Is not even a powered Hub.

What about the D-Link function? DN-S1200 has the ability to hook up two devices together with RJ45.
Would that allow using two deviced with only one USB connected to the computer? And more so, does Virtual DJ support such feature?

I don't like usb hubs when a good performance is needed.
So you plug more then one high perfomance devices to one onboard USB-Port.
In my mind, not a good idea! ;-) It is like a bottleneck.
The more you send through this bottleneck, the more the performance goes down.
So for me it is a better way to use Firewire, ESATA or Expresscard for your external devices.
Plug in your dn-s1200's on your USB ports and buy a HD with Firewire or ESATA.
Only for example, one of Western Digital:

http://www.wdc.com/en/products/Products.asp?DriveID=600
Use your existing external HD as a backup at home ;-)
The nice side effect is, you don't have more equipment and cable to carry or build up at your gig!
One more eventual source of trouble is switched off.
Just my thought. ;-)

Then get a hard drive case with firewire do you really want to mess with a hub?

you have to use the d-link along with usb for both to work together in harmony...
