Maybe you should have asked before you bought it :)

First mistake...buying something without knowing if it is good!? I'm not trying to be an ass but whenever buying any hardware you should do your homework. Researching the item on the internet, reading user reviews and asking questions on the forum are key prerequisites before making such a purchase...

With that said, you are lucky, the DMC2 is a fine piece of gear and works very well with VDJ, it was pretty much made for using with VDJ. I have one, it is a compliment to this program so aside from it not having it's own soundcard (you should be used to that) you will find it to be a better piece of equipment than the Total Control. You now need to find a mixer if you don't already own one. I have a Numark C3USB that works with mine so that takes care of the soundcard issue.

I have the same setup as Rude does and I must say, I LOVE MY DMC2. it can do pretty much anything you want it to do with VDJ. and when combined with the C3USB mixer it makes your life so much easier. just hook the DMC2 to the laptop, and hook the USB hook-ups on your mixer to your laptop and set VDJ to external mixer with USB card 1 and 2 as your decks and you are set. so simple to set up really. easy to use, very clean looking and an all around fine piece of gear in my personal opinion.

DMC2 is awesome I use it for mobile gigs all the time. A+ makes the total control look like Junk, in fact I have officially junked hte TC and moved on to a hercules RMX for club stuff. IT IS GREAT

perfect controller for VDJ, very simplistic and easy to use with a sturdy build.. the only issue i had with it was the jogwheel would make the track freeze and stutter on scratch mode sometimes, i never tried to lower the sensitivity, should work.. i did end up selling it and getting the hc4500, and then sold my hc4500 for a set of dn-s1200's but that thats only because i have a fetish for new DJ gadgets ; )

I am using DMC2 for more than 18 months. It has never disapointed me. It is a HID (not a MIDI) device, so no drivers at all, it works like keyboard. No matter what, you plug and play. No internal sound card ... that's why i chose it. No mixer ... i could never play wthout an external audio mixer. Rackmount procedure ... solid. Check my Home Page to see my setup.
Buy, buy, buyyyyy.

PS. You may adjust everything with the new VDJ script even the sensitivity of the jogwheels.

@ dj Rudde,
can you mention some of the things that are better from the dmc2 to the total control...noticeable things that is not like structure wise...but as in performance wise? im looking into getting a new controller...i was thinking like the omni control....dont know yet! another question....now you say you have a mixer that takes care of the sound card, so you dont need like a dj io with the dmc...cause i have the total control with the djio as the sound card but i need to hook up the dj io to the mixer as 1 and 2 channels...correct me if im wrong please?

Right off the bat, the build quality is better, it's made of metal and a little bit of plastic whereas the TC is TP! There are loop in and out buttons including Smart Loop and 1/8 through 8 bars buttons and sample control buttons. It has an LCD screen for each deck that displays all of your track/artist info, BPM, time remaining, etc. The jog wheels are better and more solid feeling than on the TC, plus it is rack-mountable and more.

Like the TC you will still need a soundcard. I bought a USB mixer which acts as a soundcard and mixer combined. The Numark C3USB is a 5 channel, rack-mounted, multi-mic input USB DJ mixer. The combination of the DMC2, C3USB and VDJ are a match made in VDJ heaven for the casual to pro-level mobile DJ. They all work perfectly in unison.

I use this setup as a secondary setup to my primary Pioneer CDJ-400s and DJM-800 mixer (for more effect and hardcore DJ oriented gigs). The secondary setup is a great, easy to transport and perfect for simple gigs where scratching and other advanced DJing isn't required, but don't get me wrong, you can still pull off some cool looping and sampling using this gear and produce an awesome set.

Love mine. Use for mobile and club gigs. Just took apart, cleaned all switches with this. A couple of the buttons had become erratic. This made it like new again.

DMC2 owner here too. Love it! Had a Mk2 before but the DMC2 makes the concept look more pro. I have a internal 5.1 sound card and a Numark M2 mixer connected to that. Works like a charm!

Ive been using the DMC-2 since it came out. I think I was one of the first UK DJs to own one. I still use it now as it matches my CDN95 cd player. The only issue I have had has been failure of the play button on one deck. An easy fix.

I believe that Numark are no longer selling this controller or the CDN95 which is a shame because boath are great bits of equipment.

I have to say I had the DMC2 and the Total Control. Not sure why Rude is bashing the Total Control but both controllers are worth getting. If you want to stay with a rack, the DMC2 is a real good piece of equipment to use. Now if you want to do the same job and don't want to use a rack, well the Total Control is a good piece of equipment to use for that kind of set up. I use the Total Control mainly because it is the easiest for me. I normally go to halls that are a house account or halls that I'm good with and use their sound and the TC fits like a glove. If you don't want to have a separate sound card then the Omni Control is the way to go. Just my opinion.

Sorry Koz, I know it sounds like I'm bashing the TC but I'm not, I'm saying that the DMC2 is a step up. When I said the "TC is TP", I meant "totally plastic". My bad!

I bought a TC for one of my sons who uses it regularly at college gigs and he loves it. I wouldn't spend my money on something if I didn't do my research to see if it was worth while even if it is for someone else.

there is a difference in bashing and mentioning some of the differences between both...which i asked rudde to mention......the tc is the cheapest controller out there in price and quality...though it is not a piece of junk....i have one too i love it...but yeah this is for beginners or just simple gigs...ill probably not get rid of it just get something more pro....i like table tops better than rack mount....just the way it looks.
By the way thanx rudde!!!

Hi guys thanks for all your info.

My dmc2 has just been deliverd today and i have to say i am very impressed by it.

It feels 100% better than the total control and looks a lot more professional.

I myself think this is alot more better built than the total control and is perfect for what i use.

Hey I also have a DMC2 and C3USB set up and I have to say its the best set up I have ever had for mobile gigs. I still have my 1200's and cdjs but my new digital set up is worth every penny! Mobile dj'ing couldn't get any better for me with VDJ+DMC2+C3USB!!!!
