Topic: A death during my gig

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hey guys,

I had a gig at a triathlon today. My console was set up at the starting point, which was near the sea. The triathletes were to start off by swimming 1500 metres, then proceed to cycle and run. Everything was going well, until I found out later that one of the athletes drowned half-way through his swim. Such a waste... he was only 42.

It was hard continuing after I came to know about it. I didnt think that with all the safety measures in place and the countless lifeguards patrolling the waters such a thing would still be possible. May his soul rest in peace. My heart goes out to his family members, who were probably there waving him goodbye just before he started. Sigh.

Oh, that's bad at 42yrs.

I had someone get rushed to hospital at one of my gig's once who later died, they were elderly though as it was her 50th wed anniversary I was covering.

Oh no. His spouse must have been devastated. What a way to go. On your wedding anniversary.

Hope i never have to witness something like this again. Nor any1 else.

Wow, 42 and died during a rough swim! I'm 42 and I'm physically fit, go to the gym 4 to 5 days a week for at least 2 hours each day. This past May I had a Bass tournament at Lake Havasu. At the end of the tourney my 21 year old son and I decided to swim across the lake which is almost a mile at the point where we were. About 7/8th of the way I really thought I was going to die so I stopped for a minute. I was so exhausted that I could barely tread water, but I regained my breath and made it. I sent my son back across the lake to get my boat because it scared the sh!t out of me! (almost, anyway, lol..)

Being able to bench almost 400 lbs at my age and running at least 2 miles daily is no match for swimming regularly. Now I use that friggen Olympic pool I used to ignore at the gym!

ahhh so thats why you do videos in the shower rudde??? lol oops R.I.P....anyways he is in a better place now.

Being fit is never a "get out of jail free card" - not when you're pushing your body to its limits..., pushing your body to its absolute limits is always risky no matter what those limits are.
