Hi Guys
I am adding additional hardware to my business portfolio and offering Wii nights in addition to DJs, Quiz and Karaoke nights. Any one have experience of this in the field also pricing etc ......... I'v not had a chance to get out and about to go to some of these evenings but they are becoming very popular here in the UK amongst student pubs, On average 52 pubs a weeks are closing in the UK where as trendy food bars are opening two a week, fortunately for me none of the 52 pubs are my venues.

WII nights, in my experience, can be great fun, but you need to be careful when it comes to the gear.
I wasn't running one myself, but a guy i provide an open mic night for started a WII night on the side too. No bother...the venue had a big screen and he hooked up to that so all was good from that side of things.
However, from a damage limitation point of view, he asked customers who were playing on the night to sign a disclaimer type thing that held them responsible for any damage to equipment, be it the WII itself or the in-house equipment.
If you ask me, this is fair, but the customers did not see it that way and didn't want to be held responsible for any damage caused. You know what it's like...sweaty hands, straps not tightened round the wrist, the fact that the WII alone can drive you NUTS etc etc etc. That remote can fly out of your hand like sh*t off a shovel...through windows, TV's, onto floors, onto other people for that matter. Needless to say THAT WII night didn't last too long!!! :o|
While I love the idea of WII nights and have been looking at offering this myself lately, i'd consider it carefully. Would venues be willing to sit on edge all night with the fear of something going wrong? I'm not sure.
I'd maybe check out a WII night in your surrounding area if there is one and see how it's done there before going full hog and buying extra gear or whatever.
Sorry...really not trying to burst a bubble here. Just my opinion.
Cheers...and keep spinnin'...(",)

Hi Pionara
I not come across you on the boards until now. Thank you for your advise. I am grateful for your advise and in no way you have to apologise. Its an idea and you have raised valid points especially as these days health and safety is a major factor when considering these new ventures let alone damage limitation to equipment . With out slagging of my clients , some are very rough and ready here in Portsmouth and don't give a monkies when they are drunk but on the whole pussy cats and worked with them for years and love em to bits, however give them a Wii contoller and who knows. Even I took on a Mike Tyson opponent one night and beat him hard in Wii terms but boy was I out of breath and out of sorts " keeping it polite " So fully understand that even the quietest of souls can get excited.
I will take on board your advise and perhaps let you know how things progress with this idea. Unfortunalty Disco and Karaokes don't do for some folk so especially in these times its needing something else to keep certain pubs open, roll on the footy season I say.

Hey mate...:o)
I've been a user for a little over 4 years now. Used to be on the boards an awful lot until i took up this line of work full time. I'm constantly busy and trying to get a minute to do anything these days is...well...blood and stone, you know?
Anyway, guys up here in Glasgow are the same...you never know until you've filled them with lager just what they're capable of.
The fact that you know your clients well is a fantastic bonus...but again, a pint or ten and who knows...they could be a pack of wolves by the end of the night.
There's always one big guy who doesn't like getting beat and takes it that one step too far.
Having said that, i'm still all for WII nights...i just wouldn't know how to work round the imminent hassles they would generate.

I think it could be an add on for private parties or student nights as there is the market. I also deal alot with the Military down here and although they are party animals they are up for a good crack. To be safe I think a select crowd would be my preference, meaning the folk I know.

Defenitely. You could always try it out for an hour or so at a private gig and see how it goes...get a feel for it, you know?...before implementing it into your entertainment packages.
It would be good for kids too but kids would never be off the damn thing!!! Hehehe...:o)
Stick to bouncy castles...it's much easier and you can get them for adults too...:o)
Let me know how it develops.
Keep spinnin'...(",)
