DiscoBrian24 says "It was a problem with the codecs."
That’s wonderful that we finally figured out what’s causing the problem..
SO.....Could someone please tell me what codecs will work.. How do I find it..?????

NO, the codecs are not actually installed in VDJ. In Windows XP they are installed in the Contol Panel>Sounds & Audio Devices>Hardware>Video Codecs>Properties.....that will list all the video codecs installed int he system for general use (some programs install proprietary codecs in various other places that you may or may not be able to access).
I have no idea where they are in Vista (If somebody knows where to find them please let me know as I want to delete all min and start over as I am having some codec issues with Vegas, Windows Media Player and Zoom Player).
Ther will not be anything in there called k-lite codec pack....but all the codec the pack installs will show up there, how VDj selects which codec it used I don't have a clue and nobody has ever said how to assign a specific codec to VDJ.
The K-lite codec pack will install some utlility programs in Start>Programs>K-Lite Codec Pack...haven't used any of the utilities so i don't know if they will help or not.
Just changing the codec may or may not solve the video freezing problem. On many computers(all three of mine included despite dozens of suggested upgrades) there is a very short (less than 1 second) video freeze when loading certain videos, when looping certain videos and when "hot cues" on certain videos are selected. They will also freeze when opening large folders of files for the first time a session and when changing video transitions and starting certain plug-ins.
I know just enough about computers to be dangerous but after upgrading video cards dozens of times, upgrading motherboards, adding ram, changing from Xp to Vista the freezing persists and I have come to the conclusion based on when it is freezing it has something to do with the video processing stopping for a fraction of a second whenever the harddrive is accessed for anything major as all of the times I notice the freezing the hard drive is also being accessed....just my opinion from observation. but nobody has ever figured out the problem and how to consistantly fix it (or if they have they have never given me the answer)!

My own experiences with K-Lite Codec I have found that the Standard option works best
http://www.codecguide.com/download_kl.htm
Click Download Standard
With the Basic package it doesnt include some file types you might need and for some reason the more complete versions Full, Mega etc have given me various problems with videos not playing properly.
During install I chose not to install their media player, and select the option that all files will open in Windows Media Player. Then when you go to VDJ codec options just add your extra file types (such as .flv) and choose Video (I think, im writing this from memory sorry).
I also have problems running some mpeg's and vob files until I install a dvd player such as PowerDVD. Even with K-lite DVD codec installed it still wont play VOB's properly until I have installed PowerDVD. Dont know why, but it works, so im not messing with it.
If your not sure what you have installed just check in add/remove programs. Remove anything you dont need or use, remove old codec if its there try installing codec again

Since your problem seems much more extreme then most of us are experiencing I would recommend starting completely over from a fresh windows install if that is possible.
Rene is right in one of her posts that if you can dedicate the machine strictly to VDJ and associated programs like your ripper, file converter, etc. and keep it off the internet that is best; howerver, in real life not all of us are that rich and we need to use our machines for other uses in our dailyover-complicated lives and so they get full of internet crap and codecs, direct x and other drivers can become corrupted from time to time.
I have found it works best if you install windows first, then all the service packs and updates, then install all the latest hardware & card drivers, then install VDJ and test is thoroughly and get it running properly BEFORE installing any other programs, codecs, surfing the internet, etc. Once you have VDJ working fine then install your other programs 1 at a time and test VDJ thoroughly after each install of program, driver or codec before moving on....it it a pain in the ass but this is the only way to catch any conflicts and identify them immediatley.
I am wating for the full release of Windows 7 and then I am going to do this with both my lappy and my desktop.
