Ok I'll give it a shot, but be aware your post will probably end up on page 13 since you don't have techinal issues.
Assuming this is a "Hawaiian Luau" you can play either "traditional Hawaiian music" (not so good) or fun beach party music which would be a lot better.
This theme is more about food, once they have a few "Banana Mangos" they will forget all about the theme and will guide you along depending on the type crowd you have just like any club, party, or Luau. If they want you to wear a grass skirt tell them that will be $50 dollars extra.
PS: Bring a LIMBO STICK. (Two people holding a mop or broom will work) (Find the song Limbo Rock) by Chubby Checker

I agree...Traditional may be good for meal time, but it's lame for gettin' the bodies movin' if you know what I mean ;)

If there are going to be hula dancers, then they will bring there own music. For the first hour or less just play some Don Ho (Tiny Bubbles), Cazimero Brothers, IZ(over the rainbow, white sandy beaches), Kealii Reichel (Basically anything), Makaha Sons of Niihau, Lilo and Stitch Soundtrack has some great haole songs for a luau. All can be found on Amazon or i-Tunes. Afterwards just paly whatever gets the people moving.

Yep...Limbo stick is a useful tool for this type of event (Renee to the rescue :^D). You can even use one of those adjustable metal shower rods that collapse down to about three ft. (screw-type) for easy storage after you're done ;)

Luau are actually a very easy gig. Fact is it's really fun. Reggie, Hawiian, Mambo, Beach Boys, Jimmy Buffet, Marley, Kenny Chesney, Summer time blues, Oldies with a summer theme. Just think what you might hear if you where at a Luau? Pretty cut and dry. There are sites that are dedecated to just hosting Luau's you can even go on YouTube to get more suggestions. LOL

Do a search for Surf Rock. Don Ho is really good for Luaus...

Thanks for all of your help, I got a few of Drew's Famous CD's, which are hawaiian/luau type music, also going with beach boys, limbo and other novelty dance music.
Thanks again for the help!
